Hello All, I am trying to repurpose my old ATI card into my Seti Rig.. it is working, but is using SSE2_OpencL_ATi_HD5.
My question is: Is SSE3_OpenCL_ATI_APU better?
And if it is, how would I emplement it into my app_config.xml, Another <app_version>??
<app_version>
<app_name>setiathome_v8</app_name>
<plan_class>opencl_????_APU??</plan_class>
<avg_ncpus>1</avg_ncpus>
<ngpus>1</ngpus>
<cmdline>?????????????????????????????????</cmdline>
</app_version>

Question?? Why don't you run through the Lunatics Installer again after adding the card?

Or at least download a better ATI app from Mike's World and edit it into your app_info.

I used the lunatics installer, and select APU for ATI GPU, but boinc keeps loading opencl_ati5_Sah
tried calling for opencl_ati_apu in app_config.xml but event log says it doesn't match app versions

The APU version is slower on your card.
You need the HD5 version.

ok, thanks for the help..
I now have it running on HD5_r3557.exe, but looks like only being utilized at 38%, where as my to Nvidia cards are 90% +/-... is there a reason why it's not being used more? I have it set to a dedicated core in my app config..

I have no command line info there though, should I have something similar to what my Nvidia cards have? (<cmdline>-sbs 1024 -period_iterations_num 1 -hp -high_prec_timer -high_perf -tt 1500</cmdline>)

<app_version>
<app_name>setiathome_v8</app_name>
<plan_class>opencl_ati5_sah</plan_class>
<avg_ncpus>1</avg_ncpus>
<ngpus>1</ngpus>

</app_version>

ATI cards have always been more efficient in their use of the cpu to support the gpu task. Count it as a blessing.
Yes, just reuse the same command line from the Nvidia card. Put it into the 3 ATI command line files.

That's probably why Mike is running Two tasks at once on his Tonga in Win7. You should be able to look at his results and get a good idea of what to use on your Tonga. Pay attention to the -sbs setting, the Tonga only has 2GB vRam so you have to lower it to run Two tasks at once. There is a file in the setiathome.berkeley.edu folder that lists what each command does, it's named something like, ReadMe_MultiBeam_OpenCL.txt, and has example lines at the bottom.
Mike's results say;
Maximum single buffer size set to:384MB
Number of app instances per device set to:2
Number of period iterations for PulseFind set to:40
SpikeFind FFT size threshold override set to:2048
TUNE: kernel 1 now has workgroup size of (64,1,4)
oclFFT global radix override set to:256
oclFFT local radix override set to:16
oclFFT max WG size override set to:256
oclFFT max local FFT size override set to:512
oclFFT number of local memory banks set to:32
oclFFT minimal memory coalesce width set to:32
CPU affinity adjustment enabled
Priority of worker thread raised successfully
Priority of process adjusted successfully, below normal priority class used
Info: CPU affinity mask used: 1; system mask is ffff
Here, https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=7722949830
Note the; Maximum single buffer size (SBS) set to:384MB
Also the; Number of app instances per device set to:2, which means he's running Two tasks at once.

Note also the Newer drivers, newer than 1800.xx, will give the Wrong results with the GPU AP tasks.
If you are going to use a newer driver you should Not install ATI AstroPulse as it will produce the Wrong results.
