More than a dozen U.S. health experts based at the headquarters of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva provided real-time information about the new coronavirus in China last year, according to a new report.

President Donald Trump announced last week that the U.S. would stop providing funding to WHO, because it allegedly "missed the call" by not sounding the alarm "months earlier." Trump, who also accused WHO of being "China-centric," has ramped up his rhetoric against the organization after numerous media reports revealed that the president and his advisers did not head warnings about the emerging pandemic from intelligence agencies, health experts, economists and even top White House aides. The president continued to downplay the threat publicly in an apparent attempt to calm the stock market.

But more than a dozen American doctors, public health experts and researchers, many of whom work for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and are detailed to WHO, warned the administration in real time about the outbreak in China as early as last year, according to The Washington Post. Trump-appointed health officials also regularly consulted "at the highest levels" with WHO.

"From the beginning of the outbreak, CDC officials were tracking the disease and consulting with WHO counterparts," The Post reported. "Any information of a sensitive nature about the growing outbreak was and continues to be shared by CDC officials with other U.S. officials in a secure facility located behind the CDC's Emergency Operations Center at its Atlanta headquarters. In the early days of the virus response, those officials included [Health and Human Services] Secretary Alex Azar."

Caitlin Oakley, an HHS spokeswoman, confirmed that the department had 17 members, including 16 from the CDC, who were "working on a variety of programs, including COVID-19" at the WHO.

World wide cases are now over 2.4 million while the U.S. is still out of control (meanwhile Trump and some other idiots there want it to explode even further) and Spain is the 2nd country to reach 200,000 cases. Turkey has knocked China out of 7th spot and Iran looks to knock them down another notch very soon. Russia also won the battle with Brazil to see who would knock Belgium out of 10th spot, and then Brazil put them down to 12th.

South Korea is now down to 24th spot, but Chile is closing in fast on them. Meanwhile Australia is now down to 37th spot, but Indonesia, the Philippines and Serbia all have eyes on that spot ATM.

In another strange development, American biopharmaceutical company Gilead had applied for a Chinese patent on the use of the antiviral drug Remdesivir against coronaviruses back in 2016. The Wuhan Institute of Virology had also applied for its own Chinese patent on a copy of the drug.

It appears that China was considering the idea that profits could be made from a cornavirus outbreak and that it was trying to profit from the work already done by an American company. A compromise is reportedly being talked about so that pharmaceutical companies in both countries can make billions.

Even if we assume the leak of the virus was accidental and not deliberate, the world is still at the mercy of China, where it originated, and thousands if not millions could die. This makes China complicit in what are called crimes against humanity.

Commentators trying to play down the threat ignore the fact that scandals of this kind involving China have already occurred. One of the most notorious cases was contaminated Chinese-made heparin, a blood-thinning agent, which claimed at least 81 lives in the United States in 2007 and 2008.

Ask yourself exactly who is selling all PPE to the rest of the world in the guise of 'aid'? Then ask what the prices of those items was in September 2019 compared to now. Those that don't see it are lying to themselves and might as well 'take a knee' right now to their masters.

One of problem's with correctly responding to COVID-19. Was our lack of knowledge and understandable errors in the opinions of the medical/scientific people.

We are now still getting new information and discarding old, but believed at the time, information.

When this is over and I hope sooner than later. The medical/scientific and political establishments will, hopefully be able to come up with new and correct guidelines for the next pandemic.

MOSCOW, April 17. /TASS/. A gene sequence in the novel coronavirus indicates that the virus was imported to China’s Wuhan, instead of emerging there, China’s Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui told TASS Friday.

"Five reputable scientific organizations, including the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden and the Central Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, have collected data on 93 genome specimens of COVID-19, published in a global database covering 12 countries on four continents," the diplomat specified. "The research revealed that the earliest ‘ancestor’ of the virus is mv1, which evolved into haplotypes H13 and H38, and they, in turn, led to emergence of the second-generation haplotype — H3, which evolved into H1."

For clarity, the ambassador used family ties to trace the virus’s development. Thus, the mv1 haplotype is "the grand-grandfather," while H13 and H38 are "the grandma and grandpa," H3 — is "the father" and H1 is "the child."

"The virus that was discovered at Wuhan’s seafood market was of the H1 variety," he continued. "Only the H3 haplotype was discovered in Wuhan earlier, but it had nothing to do with the seafood market."

The previous gene sequences, H13 and H38, were never discovered in Wuhan.

"This suggests that the H1 specimen was brought to the seafood market by some infected person, which sparked the epidemic. The gene sequence cannot lie," Zhang Hanhui asserted.

The ambassador castigated attempts to pin the blame for the pandemic on China as libel, and reiterated that the country had to undertake huge efforts and suffer a lot of casualties in order to beat the disease.

"In doing so, China bought time for other nations — two entire months — in order to allow them to take prevention and control measures," he concluded.

As far as I can see they are keeping social distancing.
