Awesome stuff and a milestone none of us will ever forget.

Would be cool if we could get some data points shared, like how many units we've munched through, or how many times a bleep showed up on the radar.

I think it is wonderful how many people have posted in this thread who've been here a long time, some since the beginning, and have single-digit post counts... even just one post, yet all this time have been silently contributing for up to twenty years. Congrats to all of you for persevering this far. :^)

Can't believe its been 20 years. Thanks not only for continuing the search, but for pioneering the field of distributed volunteer computing.

Congrats.

Man, did I use a lot of different machines over the years :-)
Sometimes no work for years, then 5 PC's at the same time.
Starting running it on Sun 3/50's (mc68020 I believe) then later on Sun fileservers
(usually of customers :-), then on to Intel. HP DL families, small IBM's, the lot.

Thanx for that amazing piece of software. The search still fascinates me.

I've looked and haven't seen this issue, but I tried to print my Certificate for twenty years and the date was wrong on the Modern and Photo certificates - a day early, but correct on the first one. It's not the end of the world, since I just used the other one, but I figured I would let someone know.

Happy 20th Birthday SETI@home! and counting!
I also joined SETI@home in 1999. I remember crunching data work units with a budget computer, Windows 95 and a 56k modem (phone bills were of this size).
Despite modest results (it is a result too) today after all those years and several computers burned I continue enjoy it as I did the first day 20 years ago.

I came from China.
Since I was a child, I read a science fiction , It includes this project.
I was impressed about this fantastic idea.
As a matter of fact, I googled about this project and happy to see this project are still running.
Glad to join theis project and be part of it.
Hope it may be of some help.

Yes! I just checked, my join date is May 15, 1999! Excited to have been a part of this since the very earliest days. My account shows 7 different CPU/computers since 2007; I wonder how many there were before that? I'm pretty sure I merged together all of the PC's before that into the Athlon XP I was using back then. :D

Thanks to all who have made this a viable project for 20 years, especially the staff who keep the servers running and processing all the WUs. This was the pathfinder for all of the other distributed projects in BOINC. Lets hope we find something in the next 20 years.

The probability of success is difficult to estimate,
but if we never search, the chance of success is zero.

SETI@home is the scientific experiment that most excites the imagination of people worldwide.
Assignment of the Science is not to open a door to endless know, but to set a barrier to the endless ignorance.

What are your views about the project?
I admire and greatly respect the the Scientist at SETI@home - Berkerly University Califorina USA.
