LOL:)
The Arabic numerals originated in India about 400 BC.
It was later introduced in Europe from Arabia to replace the Roman numerals in the Middle Ages.
Also the numeral zero was introduced what now seem to be the knowledge of 56% of Americans.
https://www.newscientist.com/article/2147450-history-of-zero-pushed-back-500-years-by-ancient-indian-text/
But perhaps math like algebra (الجبر) shouldn't be taught in America as well:)

Obviously a country with a very poor education system, but then again that would match up with their very poor (and overly expensive) healthcare system. ;-)

Yes we have some stupid people over here too, but a lot of them are just old crusties that don't like the future gaining on them either. ;-)

In Urdu \ Hindi the word for zero is 'Zifar'... Possibly a connection?

The concept of Zero has been around for thousands of years and early Ayuvedic texts refer to the concept often. (Possibly as far back as 5 thousand years.)

Most early Ayuvedic texts are introspective in their attempt to understand the universal. (Even has some interesting concepts relating to what we now see as sub-atomic.)

Einstien took thought from Ayevedic concepts.

The Romans did have a concept of Zero but it was expressed in a word rather than a numeral. The term "nulla" (our Null or nothingness) was for them a meaning of Zero or Null.

Me. I like the concept of Null. I like the idea of a trinary state. EG: Empty - maybe no holder even (Null), No-thing (Zero) or some-thing (Not Zero or Null)

Should or shouldn't?

The meaning of the word Algerbra comes from the "Arabic "al-jabr", literally meaning "reunion of broken parts..."

That meaning is perhaps apt for many of our societies!

Yes. That what now is Pakistan has adopted a lot from Arabia long after the zero was "invented". Both alphabets and words. Sifar, زیرو. Etymologically it derives it roots from the Arabic word 'sifr'.
Which funny enough is what we scandinavians call single numbers Siffra :)

Now why so many Americans think that they shouldn't be taught in school is quite obvious. They connect Arabic to Islam and therefore being bad like jihadists. Same reasoning as Nazi Germany connected Jews to all that was bad in the 1900's.

Urdu is 70% Sanskrit and some Persian. It is a dialect of the sub continent of India even if that has now split (Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Bengal, Kashmir (split).) It is also \ probably the third most spoken language in the world.

It is clear from history that Americans started to focus on the middle east and therefor anything they consider muslim \ arabic etc (rightfully or wrongfully) after the fall of 'communism' in Russia and the fall of the berlin wall.

I suspect politicians and folk needed something new to focus national pride versus an opposite upon.

1950s+ hate for Russia and the Ruskies has now become hate for the middle east and Muslims. ('Rag Heads...)

It is not just America but those countries that require somebody to hate to define themselves or take the focus away from their own failings internally.

Teaching children (without bias) about different religions is no different to teaching them about sub divisions within our own beliefs.

Most children if they have a safe home and confidence in themselves will not suddenly become Muslim.

... but they may become less fearfull and more questioning... That I suspect is why certain forces in our societies (like America) dislike open education.

At this age they need to check in the bed, not under it. They really should check in the bed at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, it is hosting an infestation.

I also believe that there's plenty of unused beds in those Trump Towers these days as well (when Russians arn't using them). ;-)
