I could use some help troubleshooting a GPU not running. I have checked the boxes in the Seti preferences and created the cc_config.xml file and placed it in the C:\ProgramData\BOINC directory. Below is the event log. I would like to understand what has gone wrong before I add another gpu card to the computer. 4/28/2019 9:28:45 PM | | Starting BOINC client version 7.14.2 for windows_x86_64 4/28/2019 9:28:45 PM | | log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task 4/28/2019 9:28:45 PM | | Libraries: libcurl/7.47.1 OpenSSL/1.0.2g zlib/1.2.8 4/28/2019 9:28:45 PM | | Data directory: C:\ProgramData\BOINC 4/28/2019 9:28:45 PM | | Running under account Chris 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | | CUDA: NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (driver version 391.35, CUDA version 9.1, compute capability 6.1, 4096MB, 3377MB available, 2177 GFLOPS peak) 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | | CUDA: NVIDIA GPU 1 (not used): GeForce GT 710 (driver version 391.35, CUDA version 9.1, compute capability 3.5, 1024MB, 827MB available, 366 GFLOPS peak) 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | | OpenCL: NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (driver version 391.35, device version OpenCL 1.2 CUDA, 4096MB, 3377MB available, 2177 GFLOPS peak) 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | | OpenCL: NVIDIA GPU 1 (ignored by config): GeForce GT 710 (driver version 391.35, device version OpenCL 1.2 CUDA, 1024MB, 827MB available, 366 GFLOPS peak) 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | | OpenCL: Intel GPU 0: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 (driver version 20.19.15.4835, device version OpenCL 1.2, 1595MB, 1595MB available, 192 GFLOPS peak) 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | | OpenCL CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz (OpenCL driver vendor: Intel(R) Corporation, driver version 5.2.0.10094, device version OpenCL 1.2 (Build 10094)) 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | | Host name: Carter-Seti3 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | | Processor: 8 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz [Family 6 Model 60 Stepping 3] 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | | Processor features: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss htt tm pni ssse3 fma cx16 sse4_1 sse4_2 movebe popcnt aes f16c rdrandsyscall nx lm avx avx2 vmx smx tm2 pbe fsgsbase bmi1 smep bmi2 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | | OS: Microsoft Windows 10: Professional x64 Edition, (10.00.17763.00) 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | | Memory: 3.91 GB physical, 4.85 GB virtual 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | | Disk: 118.41 GB total, 96.47 GB free 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | | Local time is UTC -4 hours 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | | No WSL found. 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | SETI@home | URL http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/; Computer ID XXXXXXX; resource share 100 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | SETI@home | General prefs: from SETI@home (last modified 19-Apr-2018 22:36:05) 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | SETI@home | Computer location: home 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | SETI@home | General prefs: no separate prefs for home; using your defaults 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | | Reading preferences override file 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | | Preferences: 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | | max memory usage when active: 3005.73 MB 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | | max memory usage when idle: 3606.88 MB 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | | max disk usage: 59.20 GB 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | | suspend work if non-BOINC CPU load exceeds 50% 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | | (to change preferences, visit a project web site or select Preferences in the Manager) 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | | Setting up project and slot directories 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | | Checking active tasks 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | | Setting up GUI RPC socket 4/28/2019 9:28:46 PM | | Checking presence of 601 project files Thank you |

and created the cc_config.xml file and placed it in the C:\ProgramData\BOINC directoryWhat did you put in it, and have you made sure it only has the .xml extension, that it didn't get another extension, like .txt? In it needs to be the following: <cc_config> <log_flags> </log_flags> <options> <use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus> </options> </cc_config> When making cc_config.xml with Notepad, make sure it's saved in ANSI format, and as an All Files->with only the .xml extension. A restart of the BOINC client is required to have it read. By default BOINC only uses the best GPU, or all if all are the same make & model. |

Sometimes under Linux BOINC will only see one of a pair of identical GPUs. Forcing the use of all GPUs is the safest way to ensure all are used. Also, I would be very cautious about using the Intel GPU as it shares a lot of resources with the main CPU and that can result in very poor CPU performance for no significant advantage.
