Just one example of what can happen with human forced rapid climate change:

Taiwan Diverts Water From Farmers to Chip Makers Amid Historic Drought
wrote:
A new irrigation policy that favors Taiwan's chipmakers over its rice farmers has led to increased tension between the two, ... as the country attempts to respond to a water shortage caused by an ongoing drought.

Liberty Times Net reported that Taiwan's Water Resources Agency shut off irrigation to more than 183,000 acres of farmland to conserve water...

... a recent study co-authored by the Semiconductor Industry Alliance estimated that 92% of the world's sub-10nm chip production happens in Taiwan...

... The world's already waiting on Taiwan for chips used in CPUs, GPUs, automobiles, and other devices. The supply of other components, such as display panels, has also been threatened by the country's ongoing drought...

Note the use of the description "Historic". This ain't happened before...

How fast and how extreme do we want our pollution driven climate change?...

Thanks for that. Excellent for how it shows what it shows.

... What is shown is just one example amongst a repeated many...

But how do we get such real word visual impact to impact the blindly destructively greedy?

Meanwhile, irrationally, fossil fuels corruption continues:

China 'can save $1.6 trillion by scrapping coal', report says
wrote:
China can save up to $1.6 trillion (£1.2 trillion) over 20 years by switching from coal power to renewables, a report says.

The authors say China must close 588 coal-fired power plants in a decade to meet climate pledges - but they insist the move will save cash.

That's because renewables are now so much cheaper than coal.

It mirrors the situation in the US, where coal tumbled from being the cheapest major fuel to the most expensive.

China is currently running 1,058 coal plants – more than half the world’s capacity...

So how do we move away from the very dirty 'get rich quick and the future be damned'?

Looks like some people are beginning to see the problems I saw a year or so ago.
Lithium shortage may unplug electric car revolution
Original https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2021/04/19/lithium-shortage-may-unplug-electric-car-revolution/ but has a paywall.

and did I mention cobalt, copper, nickel and zinc are also in short supply unless a lot more dirty mining and smelting starts soon.

Which is where we have great riches in recycling the stuff we have already mined!...

We also need to move on from the Marketing of deliberately limited lifetime products that are designed to be 'disposed' of rather than maintained, all in the name of 'fashion' and non-upgradable 'progress'.

As always, a healthy balance needs to be made.

But how and when and soon enough??

Less than 10% of all global cars are electric in any shape or form.

No, you have to dig up the cemeteries, the uses for lithium before it's use in batteries was discovered was all in the medical field.

Yet another inconvenient truth that the fossil fuels industry greedily and desperately will kill to hide?

The Longest Running US Oil Spill You've Never Heard Of
wrote:
When Hurricane Ivan knocked over an offshore oil platform off the coast of Louisiana in 2004, oil started leaking into the Gulf of Mexico...

... until 15 years later that the US Coast Guard hired Timmy Couvillion to use his specially designed containment device to start collecting the leaking oil. But to this day, the leak continues from America's longest running oil spill.

And the oil company has hired lawyers and issued dire threats so as to have the oil spill cleanup stopped?!...

Only in the USA?

From my view, totally gratuitous and very messy and very deadly.

Deadly, deadly corrupt, and on-going.

A group of whistleblowers has asked three funding agencies for a misconduct investigation into a series of 22 research papers, many of them on the effects of ocean acidification on fish behavior and ecology. The request, which they shared with a Science reporter, rests on what they say is evidence of manipulation in publicly available raw data files for two papers, one published in Science, the other in Nature Climate Change, combined with remarkably large and "statistically impossible" behavioral effects from carbon dioxide reported in many of the other papers.

Quite a contrast between supporting going good and clean vs continuing the dirty pollution:

Major project aims to clear clean energy hurdle
wrote:
... A group of leading nations will invest $248m over the next decade ... The effort has emerged from a clean-tech research programme called Mission Innovation (MI).

Environmentalists say the sum’s a fraction of the many trillions of dollars of damages that climate change is projected to wreak on society, unless it’s curbed.

But the 23 member governments involved in the programme are spending US$5.8bn per year more than in 2015 – and they say they’ll commit more public funds to clean tech if they can afford it...

... A few of the partners want to produce some of this hydrogen by splitting it from natural gas, and seizing the CO2 emissions by carbon capture technology.

Environmentalists say this fossil fuel hydrogen is an inefficient technology being promoted by the oil and gas industry...

... "Deployment of what we already have is what matters and for which we need big bucks.”...

... G7 nations were still channelling more cash to fossil fuel firms than to renewables. This included Covid-19 grants to the aviation and car industries, which received $115,000m from the G7 countries. Of that, 80% was given with no attempt to force the sectors to cut their emissions in return for the support.

A small move that in reality promotes yet more procrastination to allow more time for more pollution from fossil fuels?

Whilst Nero watches our planet burn...

We've been forever procrastinating cleaning up our climate pollution since the problem was noticed and anticipated back in the days of President Nixon!

Well, it's official. As I have said previously, the UK is not in a position to go all electric by 2050 as the government decreed.
http://www.samfordcrimson.com/20210616-britain-faces-catastrophic-power-cuts-as-electricity-begins-to-run-everything-from-cars-to-boilers.html
Britain faces catastrophic power cuts because of an increasing reliance on electricity to run everything from cars to home boilers, the Committee on Climate Change has warned.

Decarbonisation plans, which involve switching transport and heating away from petrol and gas, will mean outages in the future have a greater impact, the Government’s independent advisory committee on climate change has said, as it urged the Government to make sure the system could withstand extreme weather.

Incidents such as floods and storms, potentially made more intense by climate change, could leave thousands without power unless the Government prioritises adaptation, something it has so far failed to do, the committee said.

Electricity currently provides 15 to 20 per cent of the UK’s energy, but by 2050 this could rise to 65 per cent, a trend mostly driven by a switch from petrol and diesel-fuelled transport to electric power, and from gas boilers to electric alternatives such as heat pumps.
