The first installation is scheduled for startup in mid-year 2020 and is located in Ouarzazate, Morocco, in collaboration with Masen, the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy. Masen is responsible for managing renewable energy in Morocco, with a goal to secure 52% of the country’s energy mix from renewable sources by 2030.

There is lot of sun in northern Africa. A problem though. The political situation there is to say least a very big problem. Not the first time the idea have come up.

The unique thing about Mosaic is not just the size of the expedition, according to Markus Rex, atmospheric scientist at the Alfred Wegener Institute in Germany and the one who leads the entire expedition. Nor have advanced measurements of the ice, atmosphere, water and ecosystems in the central Arctic been conducted for a whole year.
In the Arctic, warming is more than twice as fast as the rest of the world. Understanding what is behind the rapid ice melt - and what it will have for our planet - is among the most important issues right now for humanity, says Markus Rex.
It is this that allows such different countries as, for example, Germany, the USA, Russia and China to cooperate:
- Everyone agrees that these are the most important issues right now. It is clear that I feel a pressure to deliver our scientific results. It's a pressure that I always feel, ”says Markus Rex.
Sweden is also involved in the collaboration. Our icebreaker Oden will deliver new fuel to the Polar Star this spring. Five researchers from Stockholm, Uppsala and Gothenburg University will participate in various rounds during the expedition.
In 1991, Oden became the world's first non-nuclear ship to reach the North Pole.

The proposed changes would eliminate requirements that effectively meant that most light bulbs sold in the United States — not only the familiar, pear-shaped ones, but several other styles as well — must be either LEDs or fluorescent to meet new efficiency standards...

This I would not worry too much about... with LED bulbs so common now that they are as little as $1 in dollar stores, the simple economics that they save 95% in usage and replacement costs (they will last twenty years or more) is enough incentive that most people will never buy an incandescent again.

You would be shocked how many of those 20 years bulbs don't make 6 months. But that is a bad manufacturer issue. What an incredible toxic waste in landfills.

Its called you can't cut that tree, its endangered. Or you can't drive your tree trimming truck to that tree, you will damage the whitsawhap toad's only nesting site. Or you can't spray roundup from the plane down your power line route, might cause a cancer.
