 Last Friday, the town of Gallargues-le-Monteux in southern France had a very high temperature of 45.9 degrees Celsius (!), which is the highest temperature ever recorded in the country. Also elsewhere in Europe, heat records were struck. But does the extreme heat depend on the ongoing climate change, or is it occasional weather events? ID: 2000670 ·  |

The government's official climate change advisers warn ministers are failing to cut emissions fast enough, and adapt to rising temperatures. How do we 'inspire' politics and business to change their planet destructive corrupt greedy ways to something even a little more positive, better, sustainable?I think many politicians and businesses already are really considering that global warming is a problem. Many even take actions already. Yes. People that are not greedy:) Realising that there are even business opportunities to follow. However... It also up to us as individuals to really follow advices and regulations from them. Then there are of course politicians, businesses and individuals who doesn't care at all... ID: 2002169 · |

There's not much of it left now. The forest sits atop one of the largest coalfields in Europe and since mining started in 1978 the trees have been gradually stripped away... To add insult to injury, the coal that is extracted here is brown coal, also known as lignite, which emits particularly high levels of carbon dioxide... ... I have worked for Swedish Vattenfall for many years. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vattenfall A company who has very high ambitions to brand themself as a Green/Clean/Low CO2 emission company. https://youtu.be/AqA2Xlnf1eU They, heavily invested starting in the 90's, in brown coal mining in Germany and the Czech Republic. Well they stopped their investments later after years of protests. Or did they stop? And another corrupt game of ignoring the worldwide picture and all consequences be damned: Used cooking oil imports may fuel deforestation Imports of a "green fuel" source may be inadvertently increasing deforestation and the demand for new palm oil, a study says. Experts say there has been a recent boom in the amount of used cooking oil imported into the UK from Asia. This waste oil is the basis for biodiesel, which produces far less CO2 than fossil fuels in cars. But this report is concerned that the used oil is [instead] being replaced across Asia with palm oil from deforested areas... ... The report's authors are concerned that since it is more profitable to sell Asian UCO to Europe for fuel rather than feed it to animals, it is likely being replaced by virgin palm oil which is cheaper to buy... The heat waves are becoming more common nowadays... A new heat wave has swept across Europe and in several countries temperatures have reached record levels. In Paris, the thermometer shows over 40.6 degrees - which is the hottest ever in the French capital. Yep... Here in the UK we have trains canceled or reduced to silly slow speeds due to the tracks getting too hot and buckling in the heat... We're also all too close to the tarmac melting on some of our roads. Especially so for the roads suffering heavy traffic. Very expensive to repair... Some work places in the city here have closed early for the day due to inadequate or overloaded aircon... No doubt there will be many other knock-on effects, some good but mostly disruptive or bad. That's another cr*p story from Breitbart who doesn't know anything about science obviously. According to Denmark's TV2, it has melted between ten and eleven billion tonnes of ice a day in recent days. That's more than twice as much as normal! Extreme weather events, which have become more common in recent years, are the first indications of climate change. And the warming is about twice as much in the Arctic then the rest of the globe.
