At least the continued polluting fossils are being kept in the news:

Greenpeace activists inside boxes block BP headquarters

Climate activists inside five large containers have blocked the entrances to BP's head office in central London.

The Greenpeace protesters used cranes to transport the heavy boxes into place at St James's Square in the early hours of the morning. Other campaigners abseiled down the side of the building to block windows and display banners.

Greenpeace says those inside the containers have enough food and water to last them for several days.

The aim is to keep BP's headquarters closed "for at least the whole of this AGM week"...

Spectacular and in the news... All to what effect?

BBC - Rise in global sea levels could have 'profound consequences'
Scientists believe that global sea levels could rise far more than predicted, due to accelerating melting in Greenland and Antarctica,

The long-held view has been that the world's seas would rise by a maximum of just under a metre by 2100.

This new study, based on expert opinions, projects that the real level may be around double that figure.

This could lead to the displacement of hundreds of millions of people, the authors say.

The question of sea-level rise was one of the most controversial issues raised by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), when it published its fifth assessment report in 2013.

It said the continued warming of the planet, without major reductions in emissions, would see global waters rising by between 52cm and 98cm by 2100.

Many experts believe this was a very conservative estimate.

Ice scientists are also concerned that the models currently used to predict the influence of huge ice sheets on sea levels don't capture all of the uncertainties about how these are now melting.

Yet more greedy corruption at play and the rest of the world be damned?...

Ozone layer: Banned CFCs traced to China say scientists

Researchers say that they have pinpointed the major sources of a mysterious recent rise in a dangerous, ozone-destroying chemical.

CFC-11 was primarily used for home insulation but global production was due to be phased out in 2010. But scientists have seen a big slowdown in the rate of depletion over the past six years.

This new study says this is mostly being caused by new gas production in eastern provinces of China...

... these CFCs are also very potent greenhouse gases. One tonne of CFC-11 is equivalent to around 5,000 tonnes of CO2.

Extreme Marketing and be damned to the planet?

Introducing 'freedom gas'...

US to smother the planet with liberty, whether we like it or not...

... Rather, in a statement bragging about increased exports, the US Department of Energy actually referred to good old carbon-emittin', global-warmin' natural gas as "molecules of US freedom".

Meanwhile, the rest of the world has been left wondering if this timeline is one terrible, terrible joke – if they didn't fear it already.

The red, white and blue backslapping followed the expansion of a plant in Quintana, Texas, which produces the flammable stuff in liquid form [energy wasteful LNG]...

Whatever next?!

All Trumped up? Regardless for the USA, it is our entire world to be damned in Texas hellfire and damnation!

Yet more denial and procrastination to sweat dirty profits from pollution?

Or just shallow "PR" to deflect attention away from the dirty fuels??

Read on:

Oil and gas industry 'listening' to climate activist Greta Thunberg

The UK's offshore oil and gas sector "is listening" to teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg, according to a leading industry figure.

Oil and Gas UK chief executive Deirdre Michie has told a conference climate change "is a real and present danger that we must deal with together". ..She claimed the sector "can find and deliver" solutions to tackle the issue...

... In her speech at an industry conference in Aberdeen, Ms Michie said: "I would like to reassure Greta Thunberg - we are listening, because we want the world to be a better place too...

... 'Greatest failures'

In her speech to MPs in April, Miss Thunberg said the UK was supporting shale gas fracking, greater exploitation of North Sea oil and gas fields and expanding airports. "This ongoing irresponsible behaviour will no doubt be remembered in history as one of the greatest failures of humankind," she said.

She also described the UK's carbon emissions reduction as the result of "very creative" accounting.

The "ongoing irresponsible behaviour", with added "PR", continues unabated?...

Greta Thunberg...
Somehow she is a more wellknown in countries but Sweden.
Actually I know a lot more of her mother Malena Ernman and her grandfather Olof Thunberg than about Greta.
For heaven's sake. She is too young to make any impact to the fossile industry.
Why does media focus on her this much?
Actually I know more about the UK exploitation of North Sea then she does.

How much extreme weather is needed for the costs of reducing our pollution to cost in for the business freaks?...

Why is so much of the US under water?

Five hundred acres of Blake Hurst's farm in Westboro, Missouri, are under water.

"In the first round of flooding, we had over 150 acres under water," Mr Hurst recalls. "A lot of it had been planted, so those crops are lost."

That was in March, when the Midwest's first bout of heavy rainstorms coupled with melting snow saw rivers inundate communities. "It's been one damn thing after another."

Since then, America's heartland has had little reprieve from rain. May was the second-wettest month in recorded US history. In addition to rain, the thunderstorms brought a slew of tornados - over 500 in May alone, according to preliminary reports from the National Weather Service (NWS). And all the while, rivers and lakes continued to fill and crest, breaking years of records, pouring over levees and barriers...

It's "unusual" for the Great Plains and Midwest, he notes, to see this number of repeated strong storms and severe weather in one spring.

Part of that could be because of El Niño - a natural weather event that brings unusually warm sea-surface temperatures to the Pacific. "El Niño conditions tend to enhance precipitation and severe weather over the areas that are flooding," Prof Munoz explains.

"Manmade climate change intensifies these natural variations, causing more rain to fall in what would already have been a wet year." ...

... Mr Hurst says some farmers believe climate change has caused the severe weather this year, while others blame improper management of river operations. "It doesn't matter whether our problem is caused by poor management or climate change, we need to figure out how to do better," he tells me.

"Having said all that: Would any kind of management of the river prevented flooding in 2019? No..."

If the river flooding cannot be 'managed', can we instead manage our climate better?... As in not polluting it?!

There are also other reports that the reducing ice cover across the Arctic also adds to the extreme weather that pushes across the USA and further...

How soon before the costs of cleanup and disruptions outstrip the short term greedy profits of continued pollution?

Similarly so for "The Cloud" and datacentres in general.

There is also a lot of wasted heat from those datacentres that could be recovered...

To be fair, there are some token moves made to mitigate the power usage, but to my mind, so far that is all for the sake of Marketing 'Greenwash'.

This is from over three years ago to explain the proportion of the gasses in our atmosphere, and their effect...

YouTube: Demystifying Three Climate Lies - The Road to Decarbonisation | Thomas Stocker | TEDxBern

Thomas Stocker starts by debunking three of the most popular climate change myths. He is one of the leading researchers in the field of climate and regularly advises the UN. At the end of the talk, he shows the way out of climate change: decarbonisation...

For the sake of speedy simplicity, what isn't mentioned there is a fourth effect of the water vapor in our atmosphere. Water vapor acts as an amplification of the warming effects of carbon dioxide and methane (and others). Note how the water vapor concentration has also increased as a result of our increasing greenhouse gasses pollution...

Note the denialist comments for that talk whereby there are various multiple feeble excuses to confuse away from the glaring significant big effects of directly our continuing pollution. All just a denialist wish for it "not to be so"?

President Donald Trump's nominee for ambassador to the United Nations has broken with his viewpoint on climate change, saying it "poses real risks".

For those that are unable or unwilling to follow "The Numbers", here are two articles that show the direct effects of our industrial pollution in pretty colours and pretty pictures:

The chart that defines our warming world

Is this the simplest way to show what is meant by global warming? The chart below organises all the countries of the world by region, time and temperature. The trend is unmistakable....

... The entire planet has got hotter, increasingly so in recent decades...

Spy satellites reveal extent of Himalayan glacier loss

Images from Cold War spy satellites have revealed the dramatic extent of ice loss in the Himalayan glaciers.

Scientists compared photographs taken by a US reconnaissance programme with recent spacecraft observations and found that melting in the region has doubled over the last 40 years...

... Scientists say continued losses will have a huge impact.

In the short-term, the huge increase in meltwater could cause flooding. In the longer term, millions of people in the region who depend on glacier meltwater during drought years could experience very real difficulties...

... "Over one generation, the melt has doubled and these glaciers are now shrinking fast...

Deny that?...
