After a couple of average months June wound up being below average with our average low being 2.2C down at -0.3C while the average high was down 0.4C at 12.9C and 5mm down on the monthly average rainfall, but we're still 18mm ahead on our year to date average at 430.25mm.

Cheers.

Above average temps here.
During the day only 1 to 2°c above average, when over it, but overnight; 3 to 5°c above average on many nights.

For July here we wound up being down on our average low temp by 1.7C at -0.5C (we were at -2C for the 1st half of the month) while our highs were down by 3.5C at 9.2C and rainfall came in 36mm over the average at 91mm putting us 48mm ahead on the year to date average.

Meanwhile August is off to a damp start.

Cheers.

This is not good news for my soggy yard or for my overdue firewood delivery.

Wet weather forecast for spring as Indian Ocean climate driver emerges.

A wet finish to the year is increasingly favoured across Australia as a major climate driver emerges for the first time in three years.

During recent weeks, changes in ocean temperatures show the development of a negative Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) — the wet phase of the Indian Ocean, which rivals La Niña for its positive impact on Australia's rainfall.

Negative IODs in the past have contributed to most of Australia's wettest winters and springs on record, including all four previous episodes this century in 2010, 2016, 2021 and 2022.......

In Europe reports on natural disasters date back to the Early Middle Ages. In the Hellenic/Roman sphere even back to ancient times. We know there had been catastrophic flooding events centuries ago; or much worse droughts than any witnessed by meteorologists in the industrial age.

What is known about Australia's climate history? Not much, I guess.

Only up to around 200yrs.

Well you know when spring is in the air when the clover is halfway up your shins so instead of trying to push the mower through it I decided to line trim it 1st. My little Stihl only lasted 15mins while my Makita with a 6A/h battery almost outlasted me going for 45mins, but I did get about a 3rd of it done, and I was not interested sticking another battery in it (even a 3A/h let alone another 6A/h job). At least I can now get in and out of my sedan without wet feet and lower legs.

Anyhow now that I've washed the clover off of me and the temp is at 18C (feels like 15C) it's time for a few beers.

Cheers.

Well September was pretty much on average for this neck of the mountains temp wise, but rainfall wise we were down by 11mm on the monthly average though we're still ahead on the year to date with 604mm.

Anyhow we'll see how the start of our traditional wet season goes.

Cheers.

So, it's not just me getting delicate in my old age- the weather has been way hotter than usual, even for this time of the year.
"Overall, it was nearly 3 degrees above the long-term average for maximum, minimum and mean temperatures across the Northern Territory, which were all highest on record," he said.

“Basically, Northern Territorians have just sweltered through the warmest October on record and that's records going back to the start of the 20th century, so 1900.
Nearly 8 million hectares burnt during Northern Territory's hottest October on record

For December here our average low temp was 4C below the long term average while the high was 3C above average and rainfall was well down on the 111mm average with just 32.5mm while the yearly average was down 29mm with 821.25mm.

Anyhow we'll just have to see what 2026 has in store.

Cheers.

We have floods to the north and bushfires to the south as most of the country suffers under >40C temps.

Thankfully I live in 1 of the coolest regions that this country has to offer.
