For the month of September in my region here our min temp was up by 1.5C on average while our max was down by 1C and we fell 5mm short of our average rainfall with 50.25mm being received (but we're still well ahead on the annual count with 773mm). We also received another 1 of those antarctic blasts during the month which IMHO makes far too many for a winter here.

Cheers.

The record rains that we've had here across the country of late now has all our inland rivers bursting their banks and 1 town will face the worst of it this morning.

There are still hundreds of Aussies in the path of a massive deluge that is threatening to break the banks of the Lachlan River at any moment.

Cheers.

And here's a shot of the dam, 12 months ago.

Dorothea Mackellar nailed it when she wrote of droughts & flooding rains. There doesn't seem to be much time in between the two these days.

So far this month 144mm of rain has fallen here (already 30mm above this month's average) and we have sailed past our yearly average (950mm) with 976.25mm already being delivered, the 1m mark will be passed before the end of this month.

Our minimum average temp so far this month is 0.1C above normal while our maximum average temp is 3C down. The average minimum temp may get up a bit more, but the average max will drop further based on the current forecast.

Cheers.

Well it looks like we could get more than we need.

Australia declares La Nina for second straight year.

Well the mower is all fueled up and ready to go, but I'll give the wind here another 30mins to dry the dew off the grass before I start it up. Goodness knows when I'll get another chance as rain is expected here about noon and continue on into next month.

Cheers.

I certainly wouldn't be planning any trips west of the range and Sydney's Warragamba Dam's spillway went into action overnight with no end in sight for this rain as yet.

Gumboots are now a must here just to get around the yard and I'm on top of a very large hill.

Cheers.

We copped it yesterday and overnight with 32.75mm being recorded here this morning (MTD:173.75:mm) pushing us over the metre mark (1026mm).

Meanwhile they've now partially opened the 1st set of sluice gates either side of Sydney's Warragamba Dam's spillway as the flooding increases west of the range.

Cheers.

And while the wet down south continues, up here it's hot & mostly dry, and looking to get worse.

Mr Tarr said Marble Bar could be the hottest place in the world this week. "Marble Bar in December is often the hottest place in the country, and even the world, because a lot of places in the northern hemisphere that tend to get hot are obviously in winter," he said.

"For Marble Bar the average maximum for December is 41.9C and the average minimum temperature is 26C.
"We're talking about temperatures later in the week where we're going to be about 29C or 30C for a minimum and the maximums will be close to 46C. So we're about four degrees above normal on both accounts."

With the help of 40.5mm over the last 24hrs pushed November's rainfall to the 3rd highest on record with 221.75mm being recorded here which takes our rainfall for this year up to 1074mm now.

Our average minimum temp for November was up by 1.3C (due to all the cloudy nights/mornings that we had) while our average max was down by 3.1C.

And our 1st day of summer here is off to a very un-summerish like start.

Cheers.

With another 45.25mm falling here yesterday there's going to be a surge running down the border rivers and eventually into the Darling River coming from here.

With both Queensland and Victoria now being part of https://www.livetraffic.com/ blowing the map out currently shows a large amount of eastern Aussieland being affected by all this rain (I wonder when the other states and territory will join in as that would make the site even better).

Cheers.

Our average minimum temps for December here were on average while our max's were down by 1C and rainfall here was down by 10mm on the month's average with 100.5mm, but we killed the yearly average recording 1174.5mm (well past 950mm).

On the whole our average yearly minimum temps here were up by 1.5C while our average max's were down by 2C for 2021.

The 1st day of 2022 here has got off to a cool and wet 14C (felt like 13C) start with 10mm already in the gauge with another dose due before 9am. A stiff breeze has now turned up as the temp reaches 15C (feels like 12C).

Cheers.

Well I can't remember a time when the monsoon trough has sat so far south over the continent or flooded the outback so much.

At least a high pressure system that was stuck in the Tasman Sea has protected this little part of the country, but that looks like it's being moved along now so some of that big rain may actually get here finally (it has been promised here for days now).

Anyhow we may get another rare taste of summer here in the N.S.W. northern highlands today with 28C being expected.

Cheers.

We did reach 28C here today while our January average minimum temp was up by 1.1C at 14.1C while our average maximum temp was down by 1.1C at 25.6C and we fell 4mm short on the average monthly rainfall recording 94.75mm.

Oh well, we'll just have to see what February has install for us now.

Cheers.

Just over the border in SE Qld. dams are spilling all over the place and they're not sure how long Wivenhoe and Somerset dams can hold out for before they'll have to open their floodgates.

https://www.seqwater.com.au/dam-levels

Sadly 6 people have now lost their lives so far in the floods there and 2 people have been reported missing.

Meanwhile we've just reached our average rainfall for February here (88mm) with another 24hrs of rain being expected here in which we require another 5mm to be on our yearly to date average while this month is going to be 1 of the coolest February's on record and certainly the coolest since I moved here.

Cheers.

Are you expecting increasing rain in your neck of the woods as the weather moves further south?

Just more constant rain Grant and down on the coast (the Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast regions) are already contending with flooding again and what will come down off these mountains and the eastern escarpment they certainly won't need on top.

I certainly don't need it either as my yard is like an over saturated sponge again (I maybe putting on the gumboots next time out there). :-(

Cheers.

Well we did get a 2-3hr break in the rain overnight when the wind died off, but it was back as soon as the wind came back just on sunrise and we got 19.75mm in the gauge this morning (so much for the 1-5mm forecast) taking this month's total to 107.75mm while taking up to 202.5mm for the year so far.

The funny part about it is that there's blue sky way out to the west of here, but it's all rain from here to the coast.

1 of yesterday's missing people has been found deceased taking the Queensland death toll up to 7 while another person has been added to the missing list keeping that number at 2.

Brisbane is almost as flooded now as it was back in 2011 and it could get worse as they wait for the next high tide and some of the surrounding regions are being flooded even worse, but at least this time the Wivenhoe and Somerset dams arn't spilling.

While down the hill from here the town of Lismore's levee has been breached putting the town center under yet again (I guess that I won't be going shopping down there for a while) and the local rain radar doesn't look any better than it did yesterday ATM (yes it even shows my little village of Deepwater).

Anyhow we'll just have to wait and see what happens as the day rolls on.

Cheers.
