Well I got that mowing done on Thursday and yesterday I got a load of towels washed and the floors in my unit mopped so it can rain all it wants to for a while now (and it looks likely that it will).

Yesterday was a dry and kicked off here at 14C (felt like 13C) and made it to 24C (felt like 23C) falling just short of our expected 25C.

Today got underway at 16C while 22C is our expected max, but at 9am a steady lite rain from the east has been falling and I'm wondering if we'll get a break in it before the stuff that's slowly working it's way down from Queensland gets here. There's also a fair chance of a cyclone developing in the Gulf of Carpenteria over the weekend and rain is also expected to be around all next week here again (so it looks like that it'll remain wet here until the end of this month at least).

Currently it's 18C (feels like 15C) here.

We did get down to 22°c Thursday, part from that it's generally been 28° or so up to 34°c most days, with humidity around 90% dropping to 70% or so (unless it's raining, then it's around 98% if you're not actually standing out there in it).

We're down 16 active fires in this state with all of those now being south of Canberra.

We've had some mild weather here since my last post and we've clocked up 200.25mm of rain for the month and 322.75mm so far for the year.

Monday and Tuesday should see us back into the high 20's before another "cool'n'wet" period returns.

Hopefully I'll get that damn jungle mowed tomorrow or Monday.

Well, the numbers so far are in.

According to the Department of Home Affairs, to date more than 12.6 million hectares across Australia have been burned.

To put that in some perspective, in New South Wales alone more than 5.4 million hectares have been burned, said Ben Shepherd from the NSW Rural Fire Service.
"An average fire season here in New South Wales is typically at around 300,000 hectares," Inspector Shepherd said.

Thankfully there are only 2 active bushfires left in this state and both of those are down on the border with Victoria in our SE corner.

Other than that I got my yard mowed again on Monday and as the ground has been far too moist to use my path edger I've spent the last few days digging out the concrete edges around the yard, I've got about half done now but I'm having a rest day today to let my spinal cord recover from the abuse and seeing as lite showers have been passing over. Hopefully I'll get that job finished over the weekend with any luck.

Today kicked off here 17C (felt like 15C) and we've reached 22C (feels like 19C) with a stiff easterly wind blowing while more rain is expected through to tomorrow sometime.

I've been kept busy lately with trying to stay on top of the mowing while also catching up on another job that should've been down a couple of years ago, but you couldn't push a spade into the ground at the time, though you certainly can now and with mostly cloudy low to mid 20-25C days it's the time to get it done.

So I got another 28m (92') of border along concrete edges dug out today bringing my total this week to 92m (300'), though yesterday and Thursday were to wet to bother (and my spinal system enjoyed the break), but I still have another 110m (360') to go and if miss out on the expected showers this evening/tonight I'll be mowing that yard again (the grass is growing faster than I can keep up with (and the rain hasn't been helping with that.

But when all is said and done my Ryobi path edger attachment (and it's blades) will be breathing a sigh of relief when all those edges have been finally done and it has been easy digging (though the old spine doesn't like all the bending involved).

We also got 11.25mm of rain here over the last 2 days (the bulk of it yesterday) taking our yearly total so far up to 332.25mm.

Anyhow I'm going to relax over a few beers now.

We've had a few good falls of rain, but still well below average.
Luckily a couple of those falls were in the catchment area for our main dam, but we'll probably need a couple of similar falls to definitely avoid water restrictions before the next Wet. A couple of the rural areas aren't looking too good as there's been very little recharge in their aquifers.

It's been a cool and overcast week here with the mercury here having a hard time just reaching 18C with an easterly wind that's been cutting 3-4C off those temps and today's only help will be a bit more sunshine so we may reach our expected 19C, but that easterly wind will continue on until it takes a short break on the weekend.

Today's plan is to finish digging out the last 2 sections of yard border so that I can run the mower over my jungle again tomorrow before any more rain turns up here, but thankfully my jungle is showing signs that its growth rate is finally slowing down.

Yesterday was the first day since last Sunday that we actually reached 20C (felt like 17C) and 22C is expected today, but sadly that easterly wind hasn't backed off as expected so my weed spraying is just going to have to wait for another day.

We also had a very heavy dew here this morning which is delaying my getting the yard mowed and I really hate mowing in the afternoon, but that looks to be when it'll be done today. Though the yard will look good when that's done with all those freshly dug out borders.

Tomorrow will see the return of overcast conditions here with that easterly expected to turn into a howling wind and a temp range of 10-19C (windchill will likely be knocking 4-5C off whatever we get), there's also a slight chance of showers.

Anyhow while I'm waiting for that grass to dry out a bit more I've got a couple of other little jobs that I can get done.

I finally got my yard mowed yesterday after that cold gale over the last few days had my back locked up solid, but it does look great now with all the border edges done.

Also those single digit morning lows arn't far away from here now with all the 10-11C starts we've been having of late while 21C is expected here today, but tomorrow should be the start of another warm period where mid-high 20C's return.

Today I'll be doing a load of washing, some vacuuming and then I'll be taking it easy for the rest of the day.

Been clear skies with the odd cloud about for the last few days, with just the odd shower passing by yesterday & today. And the forecast over the next few days- a shower or two about, then the odds of rain are bugger all for the rest of the week.

Well we did it, today got off to a very foggy 9C (felt like 7C) start while a sunny 25C is expected.

The temp here yesterday did reach 25C and 25C is expected again today while this morning it was 6C (felt like 4C).

Tomorrow we're expected to reach 28C and 27C for Sunday before we drop back to high teens/low 20's with the return of a bit more rain.

Been rather hot here, 34°c or so. But at least the humidity has dropped off considerably, generally around 50% during the day.

Well it started off here today (Saturday) at 8C (felt like 7C) and now that I got the weeds sprayed, the washer in the hot water tap in the brewroom replaced and then finally getting back to my car removing the last 2 pieces (obstacles) blocking the removal of the gearbox the temp here has already reached 27C (feels like 25C), at noon, and I wouldn't mind betting that we may hit 29C here, so I've turned that temporary 3rd rig of mine off until this evening and now I'm going to enjoy a beer or 3.

I finally got the last 2 bedrooms in the house cleared out and cleaned up over the last few days and then a storm brewed up over us late yesterday afternoon which with 1 loud bang took our power out. :-(

Thankfully we have power back this morning and the rain is still falling while we kicked off here at 14C (felt like 13C) and 20C is our expected max.

Other than waiting for the sun to come up I'm not expecting to do much here today.

Had a couple of reasonable falls over the last few days (20mm each time), but apart from that it looks like this wet is just about done. Unless a Cyclone or low turns up in the next few weeks, it's going to finish up as a well below average Wet season.
It's managed to get down to 24°c a few times overnight, mostly been around 34°c during the day.
