Two computers. One updated (return completed tasks and get new one) last today. The other hasn't updated for 3 days (has nothing to do and a couple hundred to report), even though I've been on the UPDATE button a lot - it keeps coming back with "deferred". What's up and how to fix? System has access to the internet - it's the one I'm on right now... |

'Deferred' is the normal, proper, outcome at the end of an update process - either deferred by 5 minutes and three seconds if it made contact with the server, or deferred by a random amount if it failed. You need to look at the Event Log (Ctrl+Shift+E) to see what happened in between. |

I updated to current version of BOINC and it updated (up/down). Now it's only running one task ( should be running 8). |

Nevermind. All 8 are now running. I guess it was just slow to start the other 7. |

Good. But it's still worth learning about the Event Log, so you'll know how it works and what it tells you for next time. |
