Someone just hit my parked car. And doesn't have insurance! Sorry to hear, Tom. This is why I carry Uninsured Motorist and Uninsured Motorist Property Damage on my Policy. My car WILL be taken care of by MY insurance. Then, if THEY feel like it, they can sue the Uninsured Party or Parties as the case may be. TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! That is one thing people seem to hate in California. Mandatory Auto Insurance. You might still be ok. Even with out insurance the driver is liable. Check with the DA's office see if they are filing criminal charges. If so demand that they seek restitution. Supply them with the repair or replacement estimate. You might end up with the state getting you the money. Otherwise you can sue also. The person is still liable. Collecting can be the hard part. Good luck. |

That is one thing people seem to hate in California. Mandatory Auto Insurance. It's precisely the fact that it's hard to collect from someone who's ILLEGALLY NOT carrying Insurance that I have ALWAYS had Uninsured Motorist and Uninsured Motorist Property Damage coverage on my Policies. (Going back to when I was 16 and earned my first Driver's License.) "It's better to have it, and NOT need it - than to NEED IT and NOT have it." <<--- An adage I adhere to. (The ONLY thing I stand to lose if hit by an uninsured motorist is my deductible. Yeah, I 'could' sue to get that back; BUT, if the Uninsured Motorist does NOT carry Insurance, how likely is it that they have $500 available to pay my Collision Deductible.) One day I'll most likely have full coverage, either AAA or maybe Progressive, right now what I do have is thru National General Insurance, it's just the minimum the state wants and costs Me $16.33-$16.35 a month, twice a year it's $16.35, the rest of the year it's $16.33 a month, I've been told that's unbeatable and I've had them since about 2008. My Sister in law has AAA, probably for the towing. CA HSR built a foundation, is laying Track! PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550 Loco, US's 1st HST |

Where and how you live I think basic AAA membership makes a lot of sense. https://www.calif.aaa.com/ |
