I know today is the 20th anniversary of SETI@HOME but thanks to a NPR Science Friday piece on the project I was able to sign up a few days early.

It is also my 20th anniversary. I t has been an interesting ride for the past two decades and I am pleased to be able to participate and make a small contribution to the project's goals.

Today is my 20 year anniversary! I've taken a break or two over the years, but I'm currently putting in a sustained effort. Let's find that next WOW signal!

Well I made it - 20 years on the 20th of May. I was hoping to get my first million by now but that will have to wait. I keep plugging along, slow but pretty steady. It has been quite a ride. And it will continue. Congrats to all.

Well missed it again. Only by 9 days this time. Hope we aren't still here in another 20 years with still no "answer" ,\. Maybe by then Elon Musk will have a permanent colony on Mars, probably joined by Jeff, and NASA will have probably finally gotten out of the manned space flight business and will be focusing on unmanned exploration....

Cheers to all...

Missed mine by 5 days. I also hope we get a signal before the next 20 years has passed but It would not surprise me if we didn't. The needle is very small and the haystack is enormous. ntpkr and nebula may be just too crude to find that needle. I think we will have to develop much better tools for the job. Think LONG haul.

As long as there is a candle in the window and hope has not been lost I will keep involved with this project.

Bob

Finally remembered my start day on the right day, and the 20 year one as well!

I remember seeing SETI@Home featured on a TV program called Tomorrows World, as I was into computers, Sci-Fi and anything ET, I just new I had to participate.

Time has removed all memory of the computer I was running then. I remember WU's taking days, and it was the reason I started leaving my computer on 24/7, something I have done ever since.

Today marks my 20th anniversary with the project . Crunched where I could, not continuously but we all do what we can. Today is also Memorial Day. A somber day as I give thanks to all those that gave their lives that I could be free. May both the project and this country long continue to stand.

Very happy that I finally remembered on the right day :-)

Fondly thinking back on the original 75MHz Pentium I first ran SETI on. Don't remember if it was that system or the PII-266 I was using when Astropulse first came out, but it took me almost the full 3 weeks to crunch those WU's. I'm glad technology has progressed, don't think I would have the patience these days.

Hard to believe it has been 20 years now that I first installed version 1.03 I think it was. I remember excitedly thinking how cool it would be that my PC could detect a signal that might change the world. I am still waiting for all this to happen, but I have never stopped crunching data since!

I'll post this first. Then I'll read the messages.

I love my 15 years T-Shirt I received some years ago - I still wear it at special days at my work: As a teacher of math, physics, chemistry and computer related stuff (programming, meaningful usage and detecting false news). Sometimes it raises questions.

Thanks to the lovely lady and a far away friend I've never met. I still use the T-shirt.

It will wear out some day. I'm still the same size.

Sandstorm (Darude) and some other songs were playing from my speakers when working at SSH at those days.

Heck, and I was going to get in on time, but I was futzing with games. Anyway, here we are, 20 years on.
Congratulations to my community of crunchers with their eyes on the skies.

Excelsior!
