I am not an astronomer or a person with even a degree in science. I have a deep curiosity as to whether or not we are alone in the the universe. I wish there were more people with this same burning desire to have this question answered, along with many other important questions in regards to our origin and potential destination. |

Welcome, Dr. Lawn. Thanks for the Introduction. Also a nice piece on Oumuamua. Interesting. I'm in the UK currently. Originally from Australia. Lived right across the road from where the Stargazers used to meed regularly. In the Australian outback. Literally. In wintertime. madness... Well, I thought I made a post on here but I guess not, so I'll do it again. My aim here is to participate in something larger than ourselves. If in fact this program is helping to find aliens, or just decoding secret signals for whomever, I would like one day for an alien race to land... and liberate the human race. Yes.. that's right, liberate. The word that was used back when George Washington defeated the English and we took ownership of our our country, but yet it adopted and embraced that which it fought so hard to free itself from. The aliens would hopefully teach us not to enslave ourselves, but to create a world where we are allowed to get up and live completely free. Where we would not have to spend 30 or more years of our lives to doing things that, really nobody wants to do, or a majority of us don't want to do. Thank you, for listening, and hopefully one day we can all wake up to a better world. - SpaceMonkey |

Good afternone! I think that every participant in the SETI project should be able to have access to the data that is being processed by the project. Participants must see the immediate results of the calculations. The most interesting results on signal processing should be published in the form of articles with detailed explanations. In addition, participants on whose computers the most notable events from the received signal were calculated should be awarded with diplomas for their active participation and achievement in the distributed computing of the project. All this will make the SETI project even more popular and will attract a large number of people to participate in it. |

The Guardian Newspaper in the UK published this question yesterday: How should we respond to alien contact? Scientists ask the public My immediate (joking) reaction was a choice between "don't bother visiting our country for a century or two, until we've sorted out Brexit" - or simply "HELP!" But it's a good question. How should we react, on behalf of the whole planet? |
