In SETI perspective's we'll be giving regular brief presentations of topics which we hope are of interest to those who enjoy learning about SETI and astronomy.

My name is Richard Lawn. I majored in astronomy at Harvard College and attended graduate school in astronomy at the University of California, Berkeley before switching scientific fields and obtaining a Ph. D. in molecular and cellular biology from the University of Colorado, Boulder. I was lucky to be part of the pioneering efforts to isolate human genes for scientific study and for the discovery of medical treatments as a post-doctoral fellow at CalTech, Senior Scientist at Genentech, Professor at Stanford Medical School and Vice President of Discovery Research at CV Therapeutics. Most recently I worked at the gene therapy company, Audentes. I continued to follow developments in astronomy through those years and now have to opportunity to participate directly in the SETI program, that marvelous intersection of astronomy and the life sciences.

This is amazing, I come from the Arts background and I am really interested in science from microbiology to astrology that it's just fascinating.
