This is a post Gordon Lowe made in the past about this event in his life. It is what he wanted for himself for when the time came and he had no more say in anything. https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=80063&postid=1807169#1807169 |

I was deeply saddened to learn about the passing away of Gordon, who in my experience was always a bright, kind and examplary gentleman. I have taken the liberty to point out the existence of this remembrance thread on Gordon's Memory wall at the Highlands Funeral Home site. Apr 3, 1999 - May 3, 2020 |

I wish I could say I knew him better but it is obvious from the posts here he was one of those "special" people. I remember seeing his logo in the past. He will be missed. SETI@home classic workunits 4,019 SETI@home classic CPU time 34,348 hours |

Gordon was a proud graduate of the University of Louisville in Kentucky. He often referred to his undergraduate studies there as the best four years of his life. After his mother passed away, Gordon began volunteering at a museum on campus. He frequently mentioned how happy he was to be back on the campus he loved so dearly. In memory of Gordon, Eric and I just made an on-line donation to that university. If others are able to and inclined to remember Gordon in this way, we encourage you to do so. |

The last message I had from Gordon was on the 5th Feb. No real indication of fatal health issues. I have sent him several messages since without realising he had died. :( If I could wish one thing it would be that we all take into our hearts and way of being something of Gordon. It would enrich each of us. As others have said he was very gentle and kind. As a Mod and member he was the best and most generous of spirits. He had a profound and deep love for his mother. Gordon. As you travel across the river know our love for you. You are with your Mum now. Will miss you mate. Pete xxx |

Just got here from the news threads :( Most of us here are grumpy old men and proud of it. Gordon on the other hand was always really nice. Infuriatingly so :) Sad, sad news. I know this isn't the time or place but for some reason (likely the number 50) I can't bring myself to NOT say it: Universal Healthcare. - - - - - Sort of unrelated but somehow the right place to share this maybe: I went through all seasons of Frasier last summer, one of my all time favorite shows. Might even be one of the reasons I liked the name Daphne for my daughter :) Hadn't watched any episodes in WELL over a decade. Now maybe a lot of you know this, but I didn't and it caught me by surprise... Halfway through the series, Marty Crane (my favorite TV dad) turns to the Seattle skyline view in Frasier's apartment, raises his fist I think and shouts: "COME ON GLOBAL WARMING" I almost cried :) |

Shocked and immensely saddened..... Gordon was in my mind one of those few souls who'd found equilibrium. He was one of those travelers with whom we share the path of our lives, but he was always lighting the way for the rest of us. I'm gonna miss 'Kermit'...........Immensely. I'm just not ready to see this fall off the first page of the Cafe... I hope there is a heaven and that it is full of bunny rabbits for Gordon. |

I'm just not ready to see this fall off the first page of the Cafe... Gordon belonged to us and we belonged to him, I am sure he will be both frolicking with the rabbits and more importantly for Gordon enjoying time with his Mum. His mother (Iva) was very important to him. His house was filled with her paintings and artwork. Anyway I have made this thread sticky again... but just for one week. As threads move into the past so do we and those we miss. The thread wont disappear and our feelings for Gordon wont die but they will move on. If other Mods don't mind - the thread is made stick again for one week. (I will or any mod can remove the sticky next Friday..) Speak your heart and let Gordon go where he must. |

We have lost many good friends and people who interested and involved us over the years. Gordon touched many a heart. As life goes on so should this thread. I've made it unsticky again. Our memories of the good souls we have met and those that have touched our hearts here in SETI and BOINC will stay with us. Gordon was and will always be a bright star. x |
