I have a 1080ti I retired from my primary rig and I want to run it in my seti only setup which currently has a single 1070ti in it. Will having a 1080ti and 1070ti somewhat cripple it or make the 1080ti run the same as the 1070ti? If so I can get another 1070ti for cheap and just throw it in. However I am also cheap and having a 1080ti lying around I dont want it to goto waste either. Truly mostly just looking to maximize performance. So I'm not opposed to other options as well. PS I did a search, but getting mixed results in searching for this and nothing for the 1080 & 1070ti mix. So please dont roast me. |

The two will co-exist. The simplest way is to optimise for the GTX1070ti, but the GTX1080ti will not be giving its best, but will be doing better than a GTX1080ti running totally stock settings. Both cards are sufficiently powerful enough to just max out tuning parameters and it will work for both cards just fine. -sbs 1024 -period_iterations 1 -tt 1500 -high_perf -high_prec_timer -spike_fft_thresh 4096 -tune 1 64 1 4 -oclfft_tune_gr 256 -oclfft_tune_lr 16 -oclfft_tune_wg 256 -oclfft_tune_ls 512 -oclfft_tune_bn 64 -oclfft_tune_cw 64 Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

Thanks Mike. Not sure how that got truncated. I copied and pasted so original document was flawed. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

Works as many others have both ATI and Nvidia cards in the same machine. Each card gets its own drivers. The tuning for the SoG app is close enough for both ATI and Nvidia that the command line would work for both. Maybe not optimally but it still works. I have an A10-6700 AMD CPU which is an APU but I am not using its graphics capabilities. I have an nVidia card on this PC and both SETI, Einstein and also GPUGRID use it. Strangely, a Virtual Tumbleweed Linux by SuSE on the same PC says it cannot find any usable GPU board, so it is using the CPU only. The Virtual Box overhead is very small, both Windows and Linux CPU tasks on the same project take the same time. Tullio |

Some VM instances can support compute in the VM like VMWare, but a lot support just basic video output. The VM has to support full pass-through. Don't know anything about SUSE Linux. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

The SUN AM20 workstation I have used for 11 years but just died had SUSE Linux OS and a GTX 750 Ti board which was full used. It had a 4 GB Video RAM. Maybe the GTX 750 board which I am using on a Windows 10 PC and a Tumbleweed SUSE Linux guest has only I GB Video RAM and BOINC 7.14.2 of Tumbleweed does not recognize it. Tullio |

Thanks for the comment Brent. Yes, I did not think of the different command file names that Nvidia and ATI cards have. I was thinking of a command line entry in app_info or app_config that is agnostic and applied to all cards. I have one AMD R9 270X and one Nvidia 750TI same PC on win 10. They work good till 2 mounts ago . new gpu drivers break the OpenCL support. When ever installed new drivers last one support OpenCL other lost. So now I used AMD with OpenCL and nvidia with cuda. They work together now. Go to Nvidia's site and download/install their driver which has the missing OpenCL component. ;-) Cheers. |

I always DL drivers from web sites and install manually. as I said each firm delete others entries from registry about driver OpenCL.dll files. I try different version drivers. disabled auto install drivers from win update. Copy manually dll files after install. but no solution so far.
