I'm running a single lonely host. Hi Juan, How many GTX 1070s are you running? Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. Those times look similar to what my Dual Core AMD 4200+ was. But a LOT less power use. My five computers runs approximately 5100W here. Winter and summer the worst for power bill. Winter not enough sunshine for solar to offset and summer not enough solar to offset A/C usage. I'm running a single lonely host. Hi Siran Normally with 4, sometimes i run with more or add a couple of 1080Ti's, but to do that i need to turn on the AC. And that is not good for my power bill (>0.27 US$ per KWHr here). You know Panama is a hot & high humidity tropical country. LOL Juan |

1 laptop throttled down to 40% with the GPU turned off. I have better ways to spend my money.... |

on a different account i had over 100 computers. not running at one time...maybe 20 or 30 at one time. PII 400's then the amd XP's, durons and semprons. PIII's of all sorts. had a PIII 1.2 overclocked to 1.5 and it was steady. then the PIV's then the Core's and finally the i series and Xeons. |

5 machines currently. 4 are dedicated 24/7/365 and the 5th is part time (my daily driver). |

Those times look similar to what my Dual Core AMD 4200+ was. But a LOT less power use. is it due to video card pulling the most power? side note i did over 6k of watts when i used to do Christmas lights years ago. that was light only usage to |

"My five computers runs approximately 5100W here. Winter and summer the worst for power bill. Winter not enough sunshine for solar to offset and summer not enough solar to offset A/C usage." wow - that is consumption? i have 2 hosts with 3 NVIDIA 1050 Ti on Linux - and all in all 220 W consumption buffered with a PV-System. have a nice day - Klaus |

Those times look similar to what my Dual Core AMD 4200+ was. But a LOT less power use. I have 17 gpus running over those five hosts. From the RTX 2080 to the GTX 1070. Plus add 200-350W for the host cpu in each machine and it adds up. I have every machine on a APC UPS with a readout that constantly polls the power delivered so can make a fairly accurate estimate of power usage. I also have consumption monitoring on the house along with solar generation monitoring so I have a pretty good idea of my power usage. Yes, I have net metering on the house because of the solar generation. My power bills for December and January were almost identical for power usage and generation. This was my generation, consumption and export for December and January. December Total Generation - 735kWh Total Consumption - 3543 kWh Total Exported - 81kWh January Total Generation - 744 kWh Total Consumption - 3598 kWh Total Exported - 86kWh My best month traditionally is May because of not needing to use any A/C yet and having pretty good generation weather. May Total Generation - 2068 kWh Total Consumption - 3180 kWh Total Exported - 475 kWh The generation and export totals improve obviously in the spring and summer because of the longer days. So those months help offset the high usage and low generation of the winter months. Any power I export to the grid, the power company pays me to offset my usage. I still use way more power than I generate. I was balanced with only two computers and a electric car when I installed the solar for net zero usage. But then I built 3 more computers and my usage now far exceeds my generation. I only pay for the main power usage once a year on the settle up month. I pay a token $10 connection charge every month and whatever little amount of natural gas usage. The bills for December and January amounted to around $600 each month. BOINC crunching is just the same cost as any expensive hobby. Could be playing golf. But I feel my citizen science efforts are more beneficial. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

ah ok. with current pc now. is it still the gpu pulling way more then the cpu? One gpu for one cpu - about equal power usage. 3-4 gpus . . . . much more power expended for the gpus. But much more credit production for the gpus also. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

Heh heh, well golf would give you more exercise and fresh air and be healthier that is for sure. But the Annual cost and the Green Fees at a top end club would be more expensive than citizen computing. Still, balance that against achievement, Seti has no results in 20 years, a hole in one gets you in the Year Book. For exercise and improvement in mental health, the round of golf wins hands down I agree. Sadly, I can't swing a club anymore due to health and age. I got my hole in one so that is covered.
