In your cc_config
<max_file_xfers>16</max_file_xfers>
<max_file_xfers_per_project>16</max_file_xfers_per_project>
DEPENDING ON YOUR PERSONAL PREFERENCES.

If you set the two values equal, and you run other projects alongside SETI, then you can starve your other projects by crowding them out.

Hi Stephen. When I simply can't get enough work from SETI to keep my machines active, I change my local preferences cache to store 0.05 days of work and 0 additional days of work, then switch Einstein from "No new tasks" to "Allow new tasks". That takes the pressure off. I check back periodically. When SETI units become available again, I just turn off new tasks for Einstein, then reset my cache to what I usually have. With the cache set to 0.05 days, I don't have the annoying, well-known problem of Einstein taking over the machines with a huge download of units with very short deadlines. Within an hour or so I'm back to pure SETI again.

It's just a thought that might help, if it works for your situation and personal preferences. :-)

. . Thanks for the suggestion. Maybe I should consider restoring the Einstein apps ...

Stephen

. Bl(*dy tedious I would say. I'm ready to turn it all off, what's the point when you can't get work. I can't babysit 4 machines 24/7.

There are many Boinc scientific projects that have regular work and aren't effectively a 6 days a week outfit. Your personal decision as to how important you feel Seti is to your life.

Let Project A = Seti
Let project B = a.n.other
If Project A has no work
Then goto Project B
Else go down the pub
For X= 1 to 1000
Does project A have work?
If X= YES Then goto Project A
Else stay down the pub
Next X
Loop until X = YES

. . Sounds like a fair routine, but wouldn't I need a laptop with wifi so I could check the projects from the pub to avoid unnecessary travel to and fro :)

Increased my max transfers to 32 and it still barely keeps up.

If any “Upload retry” tasks exist on the transfers page (there’s always a handful), then normal 5min schedule requests don’t happen. So if I don’t manually click update every 5 mins then I slowly run out of work again. Sigh.

Teamviewer works very well on the cellular and avoid the need of the laptop or to leave the pub. :)

As soon as I get one backlog cleared one of the others decides to grow a backlog, so I've given up trying and just let it happen. Anyway it's only a few hours to the outrage - anyone taking odds on it being a big one this time?

I like that code! Maybe I can get it to run faster on a Gpu :/

The main idea is there but it needs the proper syntax of course.

There ya go, but you'll have to set up an account at the pub as you'll likely be spending 1/2 your life down there, judging by recent times :-)

To fully automate it you would probably need to code it in REXX rather than pseudo basic......

If someone (sorry Siran... unsure how many you had) with a machine with a very large queue of uploads can confirm whether the bruno upload issue is resolved it would be appreciated... advised Dr. K. would let him know either way so he's sure the issue is gone. Thanks...

That was an unexpectedly short one. I can confirm all my pending uploads have disappeared. Had about 2 dozen on each machine prior to the project coming back. Now in the process of reporting finished tasks with NNT.

Greetings,

It may be nothing... yet, but I now have downloads stalled. Are those servers taking turns with having issues or is this just a hiccup?

Have a great day! :)

Haven't seen any more stalled uploads. Seems that resolved just as the outage ended.

Siran

That would be the normal post-outage logjam, I suspect.

Hi Jim,

Yeah, I was just wondering. I don't remember ever having downloads stalled. I'll just sit this one out then. Thanks! :)

Yep downloads are stalled.
just as I posted things got unstuck, whining often works, that is one of the basic laws of physics.

yeah two of my machines got a bunch of downloads at first. and they all are stalled.

the other machine isn't getting any downloads on schedule requests. just a generic message "No Tasks sent", but no explanation as to why like it usually gives (stalled downloads, too many uploads, no tasks available, etc)
