Now one computer is reporting "No task available" //edit: the other two are stuffed full. //double edit: the next request got 47 tasks and filled this one up as well. SETI@home classic workunits 4,019 SETI@home classic CPU time 34,348 hours |

Yes it does seem to be "machine dependant" suddenly my number 2 machine has a stuck download, and nothing will move it. Ah, the old DNS cache must time out wait. |

Downloads are still very problematic. Very much so. Wonder what configuration got changed in the download server mechanism after the server glitch. If they made some change, they need to revert it. Downloads are still very problematic. I think the problem is not enough server supply capacity to handle the download demand, if I had won the lottery(yeah right) I'd buy the project 4 new servers for downloading, the existing 2 download servers can either run along side them or whatever. Downloads are still very problematic. . . Hmm, maybe 2 new servers would do, we wouldn't want to spoil people ... Stephen :) |

Out of work again because of nothing being able to be downloaded. Guess I will try my luck again on Einstein. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

DL back to happening, very slow (around 30K instead of the normal 300K) but happening. But only 1 at a time! |

All mine just get transient HTTP errors and go to 6 hour backoffs. I can't get a single one to download. There is NO speed. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

I could not imagine doing this on dialup. It would take days to finish downloads. :| Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. I guess that it's time to ask a question. Other than the excessive backoffs, what else was changed in BOINC versions after 6.10.xx that makes it so hard for you people running later versions to have so many problems getting work? Cheers. |

I guess that it's time to ask a question. About 3MB zipped extra size and untold number of new lines of code that DA put in. BOINC 6.10.60 branch is 970 commits behind the master and 868 files changed. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

Eric posted in the Download server glitch thread that he thinks he found and fixed the remaining problem. I am going to see whether I can reset <max_file_xfers_per_project>2</max_file_xfers_per_project> back to my standard 8. I tried earlier and that forces everything to backoff and nothing ever came through earlier. [Edit] Yes, definitely Eric fixed the remaining problem. Now back to downloading with my normal setting for max transfers without a hitch. This is a more efficient way to download as it reduces the transaction acks that each download server has to perform at each download. I was able to download a bunch of tasks on 5 - 6 of my machines. One chunk of downloads was 132 in 1 request, and they all downloaded without a hitch. ~Chris |

Five in a row, here. Personally, I'd love to take the damned server into a field and let it finally 'retire' in a stream of 7.62mm fire! I am sure you would probably be allowed to do that as long as you had the funds to replace the server before taking the old one out into the field :) |

When I got home from work I was surprised to find my systems crunching again. I was expecting things to remain down till Monday (Berkeley time). Thanks for the effort over the weekend to get it running again. Grant Darwin NT |
