First AMD Genoa motherboard and SP5 socket image with 12 DDR5 slots.Unfortunately, An account upgrade is required to continue.I don't have a Facebook, Google or Twitter account which appear to be required to view that image. I can view the forums OK. EDIT- Found the image at Tom's Hardware. EDIT- Found the forum thread at STH, can see image, but can't click on it for full size. EDIT- Interesting, the original post was made Dec 31 last year. EDIT- i have to admit, i am really looking forward to Phoronix putting one of the top of the line Genoa CPUs through it's paces. Looking forward to Dr. Lisa Su's keynote speech at Computex 2022 on May 23rd. Expect to see the announcement of the new Zen 4 Raphael processors. Board partners expected to announce the new platform a while later in the month. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

AMD is very much in the news this week: All-AMD LUMI Becomes Europe's Most Powerful Supercomputer wrote: EuroHPC 's Joint Undertaking recently deployed Europe's first pre-exascale supercomputer, LUMI, in Finland's city of Kajaani. The all-AMD build ranks as the 3rd fastest computer according to the Top500 rankings owing to its 550 Petaflops performance. It also claims the title of the world's third-greenest supercomputer, thanks to the impressive energy efficiency of the Epyc CPUs and CDNA-based MI250X GPUs... Openly and efficiently the way to go! Specs leak of 5.7GHz AMD Ryzen 7000 chips with double the L2 cache The industry watchers at Wccftech claim to have obtained detailed specs for AMD's next-gen Zen 4 desktop CPUs, codenamed Raphael. If true, they offer some interesting insights into where AMD is going with its silicon designs. |

sounds promising in terms of raw performance. just have your lube ready for DDR5 prices. everyone should consider entire platform cost since you can't drop these chips into an existing system. Seti@Home classic workunits: 29,492 CPU time: 134,419 hours |

Actually if you stick to the base DDR5 spec of 4800-CL40, the modules are not that much more expensive than DDR4. It's when you push for the higher speeds and lower latencies do the modules go stratospheric in cost. Just watched the AMD AM5 product release and am very pleasantly surprised at the MSRP pricing of the stack. Can't complain about the Ryzen 9 7950X retail MSRP pricing of $699. That is $100 less than the launch price of the Ryzen 9 5950X. Cheaper and better performance all in one generational uplift. Assume the aggressive pricing of Alder Lake by Intel had something to do with the pricing. Gotta love manufacturer competition for benefiting the consumer. AMD nicely outpaces Intel with this line-up: LTT - Ryzen 7000 is NOT what I Expected! wrote: ... AMD’s Ryzen 7000 series has been hotly anticipated from its first whisper. Another interesting article from Phoronix- Zen 4 is faster with Security mitigation enabled, [than] with them disabled. !!! That is rather 'unexpected'... Surprising and surprisingly good... Any explanation as to how or why? Happy fast crunchin'! Martin See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

Speculation that the internal microcode in the Zen 4 die already has optimized pathways that take into account the security mitigations. Or that the software developers have optimized their code pathways to choose the fastest route with the standard security mitigations in place. The 3rd party reviews are in- Genoa is an absolute performance beast. Indeed so! Even LTT agrees: THIS is how AMD Wins. Spectacular. Just how many pins? How many Watts?? How many times extra power over Intel per rack??? Quite a tsunami... Quite the game changer... Happy super fast crunchin'!!!
