I have been trying to find a way to "see" cpu tasks in a task listing that has a lot of gpu tasks. I haven't been able to come up with anything that even causes it to select gpu tasks much less cpu tasks.

Any ideas?

There is no destinction between the two, there are no CPU or GPU tasks, there are just tasks.

If a project had specific CPU and GPU tasks it would name them as such. Seti doesn't.

If you can easily do it, would you give me an example of a string that I can put in the "task" search box that well give any result?

I can't, and never said I could. It's not possible to search for anything else than the complete name of the task, which is a bit weird. So I opened #2972.

Thank you. I am almost completely ignorant about what/where/how to report errors.

It is very hard to find a cpu task among the thousands of gpu task on a host. There is only two ways that I know of. One is to just look back over the reported tasks with an ever increasing offset in the url for the host. Hit the next 20 button on the tasks page and then go to the offset in the url and modify it and add a 1000 or 2000 to it to look farther back in history. You may stumble upon a cpu task.

The other way that is easier in the long run is to use the History tab of BoincTasks. It shows cpu tasks with a different color than gpu tasks for each host so the cpu tasks stand out and are easier to see. Copy the task line via the dialog, paste temporarily into Text Editor and copy just the task name. Then go to the website page for that host and paste into the search box for Task name to find the cpu task.
