Welcome to the newest Windows 10 version that now sends even more home than before. Soon to be in a version near you: https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2020/03/05/announcing-windows-10-insider-preview-build-19577/ As part of the Microsoft initiative to increase transparency and control over data, we’re making some changes to the Settings app and Group Policy settings that will start showing up in Windows Insider builds this month. Basic diagnostic data is now known as Required diagnostic data and Full diagnostic data is now Optional diagnostic data. If you’re a commercial customer and choose to send Optional diagnostic data, we will also be providing more granular Group Policy settings to configure the data that’s collected within your organization. We’ll publish more specifics around the new policies when we get closer to the retail release, and in the meantime, check out the Microsoft Privacy Report for more information around our data collection practices. |

Another Windows 10 update... Hi Martin, That "may" be so, but Android has 10 beat by a billion. Not to mention that as of Feb 2020, Android has the market share over Winders. Been using Win 10 for approx. a couple of hours. The only good thing about it so far is using a PIN to log in. :-) Other than that, can't complain, both rig & O/S were freebies. |

Been using Win 10 for approx. a couple of hours.Trouble is, when you need to do diagnostics in which the system has to auto-reboot several times, it can't do that due to that PIN. I tried to find out why this system is still so unstable, ran the windows assessment console (needs to be installed separately, doesn't come with Windows 10, not even Pro), but during the two hour test I had to walk to my computer every time it rebooted because of that darn PIN. Will have to do the tests again but set up a password this time as you can tell Windows to login automatically with a password set, but not with the PIN set. Go figure. |

Hopefully the world agrees that a 4 digit password is not a good idea...4 or 6 number PIN doesn't matter according to this research: https://this-pin-can-be-easily-guessed.github.io/ |

Open the Settings app, and click/tap on the Accounts icon. Select Sign-in options on the left side, and click/tap on the Remove button under PIN on the right side. Click/tap on Remove to confirm. Type in your Microsoft account password to verify, and click/tap on OKA password is set before the Pin option becomes available & the PIN is only for that device. If any serious issues with Win 10 on that rig, I'll just pull the drive. It's only a 250gb & have already imaged it. @Martin You have made your views known regarding freebies & no problem. Did you fail to see where it was mentioned that both rig & O/S were freebies? You are also aware of the Computers & Technology thread. That Win 10 rig will just be a net access rig not a working one, aside from crunching of course. :-) What's not to like. |

Who authorised M$ to attach my Mail & Skype accounts to the taskbar & make them live? How is it that with every new version of their operating system, it breaks networking? Surely with 35 years experience they should know how to network their O/S. Spent 2 days checking out & setting up Win 10 to Win 7 & vice versa networking on my network. No problem, so spent some hours yesterday dragging & dropping some files/pics/videos over to Win 10 rig. Great, no issues, in fact used one of the pics as desktop background on the Win 10 rig. Shut down for the night, but on rebooting today, network access not possible in either direction. :-( However, shock horror, for the 1st time ever since I 1st installed XP & subsequent O/S's, RDC works in both directions. Just wondering how long that will last as their Spring Update (2004) will be released soon. |

(...) Just delay functional update for e. g. 180 days and don't beta test the "bleeding edge" releases. ;) Aloha, Uli |

Hi Sirius, Who authorised M$ to attach my Mail & Skype accounts to the taskbar & make them live? You didn't know? Micro$oft does not need any permission do do whatever they want with out PCs. Why do you think I only use Winders 10 for playing World of Warcraft? Everything else I do in Linux, that which I used to do in Winders 10. :) Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. Yet another incredible 'ooops' for merely previewing an email on Windows or even just looking at some Windows text: It's 2020 and hackers are still hijacking Windows PCs by exploiting font parser security holes. No patch, either wrote: Spreading in the wild, no vaccine, people told to distance themselves from dodgy sources... sounds familiar After how many decades of this?! IT is what we allow it to be... Stuff from 1996-2005 has no place in new Windows. Do as Apple and put in support directly into the operating system instead of relying on (ancient!) libraries. Adobe stopped development of this thing in 2005. Edit: It's not present in Windows 10 version 1709 and above: Please note: ATMFD.DLL is not present in Windows 10 installalations starting with Windows 10, version 1709. Newer versions do not have this DLL. See the mitigation section for more information.https://portal.msrc.microsoft.com/en-us/security-guidance/advisory/ADV200006 |

Network sorted, finally! Resorted to a past option. Static IP addresses. Worked a charm as Kodi now updating on Win 10. Did notice one strange thing while resetting everything, Win 10 does not like being cut off from the Internet. |

Hi Sirius, Win 10 does not like being cut off from the Internet. Being the spy it is, Winders 10 needs to have an always on connection, to its home base, so it can pass on the information it stole. lol ;) Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS?
