Hello! Using: Boinc 7.14.2 Mac Pro 6 core Xeon ATI Radeon HD 5770 OS 10.13.6 Can I set BOINC to run SETI only on the GPU and have non-GPU projects (World Community Grid) use the cpu? I don't see a BOINC setting and this non-coder would appreciate any help/instruction. Thanks stephen stephen grayman massachusetts USA |

The option you seek is on this website, in the first few lines of https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/prefs.php?subset=project |

So now, I have SETI GPU tasks only. However they are not starting and remain "Ready to start". I had hoped that by isolating SETI to the GPU that both projects, (one being non-GPU), would run concurrently. Is that possible? stephen stephen grayman massachusetts USA |

Normally, it should be. This time, I will refer you to BOINC Manager to work out what's going wrong. But keep reading for what to do about it. Open BOINC Manager, in either simple or advanced view - this works either way, although you may find people here more accustomed to Advanced view. Open the Event Log - either from the tools menu, or by pressing Ctrl+Shift+E. I'm guessing that you may find a line like "Suspending GPU computation, computer is in use", or some variation of that. Have a good scan up and down the log, and make sure you've found what the real reason is. If my guess of 'computer is in use' is correct, go - this time - to https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/prefs.php?subset=global This one's on the third line of the second group. While you're there, have a bit of a poke around, and do the same in the other subset, to start finding out just how much control you have if you want to use it. |

Richard: Thanks again for your assistance. I just returned to my desk and found that SETI is running on the GPU and WCG is running on the CPU's. Perhaps I was impatient. Regardless, I see from the links there is much that can be configured and hopefully I'll get some time to review and learn more. I appreciate your help; thank you. stephen stephen grayman massachusetts USA |
