FANTASTIC NEWS!!!

New toy will be ready to start Crunching in the next few days. (Christmas was good this year!!!)

[New Hackintosh:]

i7 7700K
CoolerMaster Hyper212 EVO cemented with Arctic MX-4 Paste
32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4-CL14 2400MHz RAM
Gigabyte GA-H270-HD3 MOBO
Lite-On ATAPI DVD-Burner
Silverstone FS303B 3-Bay Hot Swap Bay
Two Samsung 860 Pro 1TB SSDs - One for MacOS, One for Windows 7 Pro x64
One MacVidCards' GTX-1070 8GB GDDR5 VRAM GPU
One EVGA GTX-1050 2GB GDDR5 VRAM GPU
Fenvi FV-T919 WiFi AC & Bluetooth 4 PCI-e x1 Card - Works in both Windows and Mac
Rosewill E-ATX Case - 5 140mm Case Fans
Corsair HX750i Platinum 750 Watt PSU

Found that the Double Wide GPUs do NOT accommodate having three GPUs attached to the MOBO in the available PCI-e Slots. I'm NOT into Riser Cards/Cables, so the System will remain a Dual GPU Setup. The limitation is at the Middle PCI-e Slot whereby the Double Wide 1050 comes right up to the "lower"/Third PCI-e Slot. A third GPU IS physically possible, (due to the extra room in the E-ATX Case), BUT because the middle GPU butts up against the third PCI-e Slot, heat from the third GPU would affect the middle GPU. I DON'T want that to happen.

I got the Mac Profile set to iMac 18,3 - a 27" iMac with Retina Display. (Though I have NO retina Display, just an ASUS VE228 22" Monitor connected via HDMI Cable.)

I will be renaming the Mac Pro 5,1 back to Daedalus, and the New Hackintosh will take the Andromeda name. This means Editing the ClientState.xml Files in both machines to get the appropriate BOINC SETI@Home ID Numbers to each machine.

WHY does the CUDA Line for BOINC show that my GTX-1070 is ONLY 4GB BUT the OpenCL properly shows the Card as 8GB VRAM???

GPU-Z correctly reflects the full 8GB of RAM on the Card. The 1050; however, in BOINC is correctly registered for CUDA and OpenCL as 2GB VRAM...

[EDIT:]

The above was taken from the Win 7 Pro x64 System - aka: Prometheus. I don't yet have BOINC Installed in MacOS for the Hackintosh Setup, yet.

congrats on the nice new seti rig.

Thank you, very much... :-)

I've been collecting parts for this for MONTHS!!! :-O I'm SOOOOOO Happy to FINALLY have this altogether, now!

Now I have to install my second License, (Seat), of ESET Cyber Security for Mac, Paragon NTFS for Mac, Paragon APFS for Windows, Paragon HFS+ for Windows, ExtFS for Mac and Windows, and then save up for a second License of TechTool Pro. I'm going to be busy with all of this over the next few days. I still hope to have BOINC installed on MacOS while doing, or shortly after all this.

NO Answer??? I know from previous Threads that others reported that their 8GB Cards were ONLY seen as 4GB by BOINC... I never found a solution to their problem, and now that I'm experiencing it myself, I thought someone here might have an answer...

The apps are only 32 bit so the max memory they can ever report is 4096 for the gpus.

Good luck Vic. A little at a time will get you there in the end. :-) I know it can get depressing when you want something like this SOOOOO bad, and you think "When will this happen???" - Just keep plugging along and you will succeed. :-)

I've had help over the years from Woohoo, Zalster, Carlos, Zombu and others. ALL the help I've had has been GREATLY appreciated. God bless all of you. This is a GREAT Community.

Well, it would probably work better if you remove that command line;
SETI@home using CUDA accelerated device GeForce GTX 1070
Using unroll = 5 from command line args
Autotune has been around since zi3v. If you remove that CL Autotune will set the unroll correctly for both GPUs.

I'd be careful. I've seen the tasks work for Days and then suddenly start missing all pulses.
Then again, I've seen this machine work for months without missing any pulses, https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?hostid=8424399

How do I use AutoTune??? Or, is this an automatic function of BOINC???

What TBar was trying to get across is that setting a specific unroll for each individual card is not necessary. If you have no parameters called, the application always uses its default internal autotune parameter against all cards. Each task gets the correct unroll for each task that is crunched on that gpu which equates to the number of CU's on each card. All automatically. It handles all types of cards with no user intervention necessary.

How do I use AutoTune??? Or, is this an automatic function of BOINC???

You just let the app do its thing all on its own. It is all automatic. BOINC has nothing to do with it. It is a function of the science app. Autotune only gets overridden when you call your own unroll parameter. Which is unnecessary.

<cmdline>-unroll Autotune</cmdline> <<----- So, I don't even need to do this??? I found this in a Search of the Forum.

Yes, you don't do anything. The app implements Autotune all on its own internally.

Thank you, I'll take this out then. 😀

You don't need to write anything to Autotune do it's magic, this is my line:

<cmdline>-nobs</cmdline>

Obs: The -nobs parameter is the only one you choose, look in the info file how -nobs works.

OK - I've removed the Command Line Parameters, Reinstalled BOINC to reset permissions, and it is running now. All seems to be fine, no errors reported in Notices, NOR in BOINC Event Log. (Other than Missing OpenCL for the MacVidCards' GTX-1070... Mentioned in DETAIL in my other New Thread.)
