I only just found out about this- Sister Mary, obituary. Sister Wendy Beckett, a Roman Catholic nun who interrupted a cloistered life of prayer in England in 1991 and soared to international stardom with lyrical BBC documentaries that made her one of the most improbable art critics in television history, died on Wednesday in the village of East Harling, England. She was 88. ;-( I've always enjoyed classical art, but found most shows about it painful to watch, if not just annoying. Then one day I happened across this Nun talking about a famous painting, and was hooked. She made it fun & interesting. She was brilliant. RIP Sister Mary. Grant Darwin NT |
