I've noticed that the cuda apps (Linux_Pascal+0.97b2_Special.7z) hosted at http://www.arkayn.us/lunatics/ have vanished very recently. Have these been replaced? |

@Tod It has been noticed by others. See comments, and discussion of work-arounds in the thread "Setting up Linux to crunch CUDA90..." --somewhere around page 87, or scroll down to message #1969800 posted by "Someone537833". Hmmm, I know there's a way to make a link to that specific posting... let's see if this works.. https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=81271&postid=1969800 ...well, it looks o.k. in the message preview, so try it. And, of course, scroll further in that thread. |

Curious, Ok thanks. The other download links worked. |

Tod, Do you have 2 systems with TitanVs and RTX 2080tis? or did you change the hardware over to a new system today? Seti@Home classic workunits: 29,492 CPU time: 134,419 hours |

Hi Ian&Steve C., The old x79 system has been decommissioned. The new system is an x299 with 1 Titan V and 2 2080 Tis. I tried three 2080tis' but the heat was too great. I am sort of disappointed with nvidia's choice of cooling on these new cards. Really need at least 1 slot of space between them (or a liquid cooler). I wish they would have stuck with the blower design. |

nice system! should be a beast. you should be able to combine the stats of the system in your host settings on the website. so it still shows as 1 system and not multiple. try to merge them. Also i see you're running CUDA 9.2 on the new system. and not CUDA 10. any reason for that? Seti@Home classic workunits: 29,492 CPU time: 134,419 hours |

Oh, no reason in particular. I just wanted to see if there was any real difference in speed. I guess I haven't really seen much, so I'll likely go back to the Cuda10 app. As for merging, I was able to merge a couple duplicates of the x79 system, but unfortunately I am unable to merge anything with the new system that just came online this morning. |

hmm you should be able to. try to manually merge it. they have the same OS so it should be OK. try the manual merge, and select either the old or new system and see what it says you can do. it will give you a reason why they can't be merged. Host 8613098 has an incompatible OS: (Linux Fedora, Microsoft Windows 10) Host 8616914 has an incompatible CPU: (GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-7940X CPU @ 3.10GHz [Family 6 Model 85 Stepping 4], GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 950 @ 3.07GHz [Family 6 Model 26 Stepping 5]) Host 8624913 has an incompatible OS: (Linux Fedora, Microsoft Windows 10) Host 8626092 has overlapping lifetime: (13 Dec 2018 - 14 Dec 2018), (29 Nov 2018 - 14 Dec 2018) No hosts are eligible for merging with this one. I am guessing the reason is because it was still online earlier today? When I left it last night, I just selected 'No new tasks' and let it run out. I shut it down first thing this morning. Probably will be able to merge it tomorrow? |

does it have the same host name? honestly if you did a full re-install, that probably wasnt necessary. you probably could have just plugged your old hard drive into the new system as is and it would have just picked up where it was lol. you can usually do that with Ubuntu, I dont know how Fedora handles that though. Host names are different, and with all the different hardware, I thought it would be prudent to just to a reinstall. It will be interesting to see if I can merge them tomorrow. My guess is they wont because of the differing cpu. |

You can't merge different OS'. You can change the hostID of the new Linux host to the old Windows10 host to preserve its history and creation date. But you really should have done that just as you created the new Linux host because you will lose all the credits you have since accumulated from its creation. All it takes is some simple editing of the client_state.xml file of the hostid and rpc_seqno. You won't loose the credits gained b the "old" system, they will remain on your account "forever". What you will loose is the continuity between the two operating systems. However I would suggest that will make it easier for you to compare the performance of old and new Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

I guess I didn't make my self clear. You will lose all the credits of the "new" Linux host that you turn into the "old" host. That is why I said you should do it as soon as possible after converting. One of the reasons to revert to the old host ID is to preserve many years of credit the old Windows host accumulated and to continue adding to it. I've done the switch several times now. After all the pendings are validated and cleared from the database, you will be able to delete the "new" Linux host ID leaving you with your old host ID which is now a Linux machine.
