No, I don't think it looks like a scam. It is probably based on the new Intel Movidius Neural Compute stick that just came out last couple of months. Think of it as machine vision and AI hooked together.

Wow, thanks for hints, smth to read about then...

EDIT: so, proposal to use neural networks for SETI I saw few weeks ago here meant this device?... Very interesting... To teach neural network to find signals in the noise...
Looks like promising way to go (especially looking on power consumption). Hard to fit into exact borders of current validator pipeline, but as whole alternative pipeline for SETI data processing why not....

Yes, that post a few months back was in regard to this device. I've been reading up on the developer libraries and software. Been getting a fair amount of articles written about it.

If for SETI it is going to be a good promise, that is good. And that is what is of interest here. So good notification.

But allowing myself a brief diversion:
I will refuse to even say Hello to anyone wearing such a contraption.
It may well be better than hiding a miniaturised cam in a jacket button, nevertheless I find myself very uneasy toward this stream of innovation.

To observe some implications of this direction look for recent "Anon" fiction movie.
