Mum's warning after she accidentally creates huge chlorine gas cloud trying to unblock her toilet
A young mum who tried to unblock her toilet and accidentally filled her house with deadly chlorine gas is warning others how easy it is to cause a major chemical incident.

... The mum-of-three told how she inadvertently created a potentially deadly chemical reaction by using two ordinary household chemicals - hours apart - and is now warning others to think twice before they tackle a blocked toilet.

.. Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus went into the house to ventilate it more, and wash away the chemicals and make the house safe.

A rather unusual lost and found.
A police station in Victoria has put out a call for more information after being handed urns containing the ashes of two people from north Queensland.
In early December, two residents of Morwell, about 150 kilometres east of Melbourne, stumbled upon two urns in the street. When they handed their find in to the local police station, officers determined the remains were that of a Mr and Mrs Stone who were cremated more than 2,000 kilometres away in Mackay.

I did a test this summer - 1,300 miles in a week from Yorkshire to Dublin via Stranraer, ferry to Belfast, Stroke City (Derry/Londonderry) and the wild west coast of Ireland. The car recorded 65 mpg overall, with the first fill-up after 675 miles.

That's a 2017 Peugeot 'Blue' diesel, 6-speed manual, 120 bhp. Our gallons are bigger than yours, so make that 52 mpg in US terms. And I've checked that the car counts as 'ultra low emission', exempt from London's pollution tax when it comes into force next year. I was mightily impressed - as good a buy as I'd hoped it would be.

That's a good test, I recently got a free car, a 2000 Audi S3 Quattro petrol 6-speed manual, 210 bhp, although it has an induction kit so it might have more horses, but probably does no better than 30mpg, its supposed to do 148 mph, but I think I'm changing the rear transmission oil and timing belt before I do anything silly, say a trackday, but you can do 79 mph on a motorway/dual carriageway, or 68 mph on normal 60 mph roads without prosecution.

They have to give you education at the roadside above those speeds, but not until you go 87 mph (70 mph), and 76 mph (60 mph) should you expect a Summons to Court, unless you're driving like a crazy person.

I live near the California State Capital. When I drive to Sacramento I typically try to keep up with traffic doing 80 in a 65 mph zone.

Doing 130km/h in a 100km/h zone here is a $600 fine, 4 demerit points ($800 & 7 points in some other states) & depending on the traffic and conditions could result in a further fine & disqualification of your drivers license.

That's one of the reasons I never drive the interstates/highways/expressways because people are going too fast for my taste. I always use the regular city streets to get around. People go too fast on those, too, but at least I don't get trapped if there's a traffic jam.

I know. They drive much faster on the freeways in the northern part of California than in southern California. There is some good ticket revenue going to waste!

An Escape room? I'd never heard of such a thing until I just saw this on the news -

Curious, I discovered we have such a thing here in Louisville. Very strange.

The wonders of automation...
Comcast Voice-Remote Rejects "Dick Van Dyke" Search: "I Cannot Handle That Type of Language
... Two users have confirmed to THR that the remote gets snippy when asked to play episodes of The Dick Van Dyke Show. "Sorry, I cannot handle commands with that type of language," it responds.

... No word yet on other, ahem, top titles like Dick Tracy, Moby Dick, Fun With Dick and Jane.

No:)
Lysblink Seaways was owned by DFDS a Danish international shipping and logistics company. It is the busiest shipping company of its kind in Northern Europe and one of the busiest in Europe.
A 36-year-old Russian was on watch duty under the influence of alcohol when the Lysblink Seaways ran aground near Kilchoan, West Scotland, a report by the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) has found.
Actually he drank half a litre of rum before the ship crashed into Scottish rocks:)
He drank the rum while off duty having received a telephone call which had caused him anxiety, the report states.

What shall we do with the drunken sailor...
