We used to have a scam thread here, but it seems to have fallen into the deep locker

Got a message on the machine from a scammer claiming I had paid for computer support and their was a court order to refund 3 months of money.
They wanted me to call a phone number immediately. They said it was toll free, but wrong area code for that!
Now I know I didn't sign up for anything or pay for anything, and I'm not dumb enough to think I can get something for nothing.
I smell a scam asking for your CC info so they can process a refund, but it will be big charges.
The other scam it might be is a 976 pay number you call that is in disguise so a huge bill shows up on your telephone bill.

As with many of these "hacks", most likely they never changed the default password(s) after setting it up.

... Nest told the couple that the hacker guessed their password, but they found that unlikely.

“Nest is HIGHLY aware of this problem and they frequently receive calls about this. They are aware that there is a way to figure out your password and hack into your camera, and they have not notified their customers or helped them to take proper action. Seriously? We then had to do our own research on how to resolve the issue because they offered no help.”

Cool. There is now snow in southern England as well. That's rare.
Strange that I haven't seen those snow rollers here in Scandinavia shaped like that though.

Not as rare as one might think - often Kent and Cornwall have snow earlier than Birmingham.

Sad to see this happen but at least they have caught and charged 3 scammers.
Now all we can do is wait for a LENGTHY PRISON SENTENCE and ASSET FORFEITURE as a possible deterrent to future scammers.

Looks electrical from here - to the standard used in the UK and former colonies, which probably makes it 230V/240V.

I'm sure the Grenfell inspectors signed off on the installation.
