I've done work for seti@home on and off for a while... been away for a few months, but just set up a new to me Ubuntu box and installed boinc using the package manager. I was able to use boinc-manager to connect to my seti@home account... but it is not getting tasks... just says Project has no tasks. I checked online and see my new computer is registered, but has no tasks. the last time I set up new machines they got new tasks imediately... so I'm wondering if there is an issue with my account at this point. |

If I recall correctly, i had this happen with a new ubuntu setup where i got no errors or other msgs. The machine just sat there, then I installed a newer openCL, rebooted, and about an hour later it took off. excerpted From: install doc on this area: Install OpenCL, type: sudo apt install ocl-icd-libopencl1. This was the pain point for me. BOINC recognized the graphics card, but would not download GPU work units. I found an error in the BOINC Event Log that mentioned it was not compatible with OpenCL. After some Google searching, I found this command. 4. Reboot. BOINC will not download GPU work units until you do. Full doc: Did a second install of Ubuntu on to another computer (both are HP refurbs) (dual boot this time). This procedure works great, here are the steps isolated from the website but the source is listed last line: Note that GPU (opencl_nvida-SoG) work units run in approx 10 minutes and opposed to about 30 min on windows>[/quote] "Don't worry about it, nothing is gonna be O.K. anyway.........." |
