The wildfire situation in California is indeed not looking good when such measures have to be taken =:/

Worsening air quality forces cancellation of classes
By Public Affairs, UC Berkeley| November 15, 2018
https://news.berkeley.edu/2018/11/15/worsening-air-quality-forces-cancellation-of-classes/

The forecast for tomorrow from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District now indicates that conditions are expected to deteriorate. In that context, and based on the guidance of experts on campus, we must assume that the 200 AQI threshold will be exceeded tomorrow. As a result, we have decided to cancel all classes for the remainder of the day today, and on Friday.

Berkeley has cancelled classes today due to smoke issues. So unless the team can fix things remotely, we might be looking at a problem for a while. Hoping the Seti group stays safe and that the firefighters can get this fire out soon.

I wonder what number the statisticians in the future will allot to increased mortality rates for Californians who have suffered under Extremely Unhealthy and Hazardous air quality for the cumulative 4 months of bad air we have suffered so far in the North State.

You're not alone to wonder about the mortality and health impacts of the hazardous air quality on populations living in affected areas, which are bound to be increasingly significant as wildfires over the next years are expected to increase. Are you personally affected by the air degradation in your area ? How does that translate in every day's life ?

Yes, I suffered from hazardous air quality for the months of August and September from the Carr Fire 60 miles north of me. The prevailing winds are from the north so all the smoke came and camped on my doorstep. On some days, I literally couldn't see the house across the street from me. Now the Camp Fire is blanketing me with its smoke which is 30 miles from me to the East.

My personal impacts are I avoid going outside at all. I haven't had any exercise like a simple walk around the block since the start of the fires. It takes 5 hours to mow my lawns because of frequent breaks to come inside and cough until I can catch my breath.

Smoke from Camp Fire Billows Across California
Several days after the Camp Fire began, smoke continued to spread widely across northern California.
Around the time that the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite acquired this natural-color image on November 14, 2018, air quality sensors in many parts of northern California measured unhealthy to hazardous levels of pollution, according to data from the Environmental Protection Agency’s Air Now web portal.
Responsible for at least 48 deaths and the destruction of at least 8,000 structures, the Camp Fire is now the deadliest and most destructive fire in California history, according to Cal Fire statistics.

Your camera tried to white balance that shot didn't it? Wasn't it more like orange and not yellow?

No. The time of day was about 11. It's close to true color.

I don't have problems to view that pic and don't have to scroll it.
It depends on your browser. Consider change to another browser.
Download size? Yes it's big but if that's a problem then you have problems with news websites as well.
And most websites today for that matter.

Interesting. We're slowly working through glitches like this in the Test thread in Number Crunching - any further discussion there, please.

I don't have any problem with the image, I use WaterFox 56.2.5 and My screen is a 21.5" Lenovo DP @ 1920*1080. WaterFox resizes the picture.

I don't automatically resize images, and until David made changes to the forum code it wasn't necessary to do so in order to be able to read posts where oversized images were posted.

I do usually resize to about 600 x 750 dpi, but that was from my iPhone. I have not figured out how to resize on the fly. I am home now so here it is in a smaller size.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_balance

Except for any adjustment needed for size, here a good example that nature could leave you in the dark for what you could be making of it,
because right on the spot, I do not find another way of making it an explanation, if perhaps only color, for what you could be able to see,
except not other way we could be making of it, like sometimes a representation, for only an example.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dither

Different examples, for also different figures, except not any color schemes telling about any patterns either, so if perhaps true that a picture could be
telling more than a thousand words, next so, except for still the thing it could be left being interpreted as.
