I've never understood why the U.S. senators get six year terms, and the House Representatives get two year terms. In they bygone days when the republic was set up it was expected that Senators who were elected by their state legislative body would have served in that body and would be the best of the best so they could serve a longer term and act as a check upon the wildness of the directly elected house. After their election was given to the people, they didn't also put their terms at a sensible number of years. There is also the matter of weirdness of there being two per state but six year terms so some years there is no choice. This part of the constitution needs some work. Say we keep six years, but term limit to s single term, and we have three per state, votes are per state all three have to agree or the vote is present. Might force us right down the middle, but straight down the middle is progress. |

... there being two per state ...Irrespective of population. We used to call those 'rotten boroughs'. |

Except that the whole system is a fraud and only weighted to the rich and greedy. It is not a proper true democracy in any shape or alternate form, yet you guys try to force true democracy onto others where you guys have no right to be. Hypocrites abound in the U.S. of A....... When you guys finally work out for yourselves a true democratic process over there for yourselves then you may have the right to push your views onto others, until then you better do some heavy self reflection of yourselves and your hypocrisy. |

And so should the UK, which is equally deficient in those departments - though in its own idiosyncratic way. |

You got to give the little darlings credit. They are as persistent as Jehovah's Witnesses, difficult to get rid of. :-) |

Where are the hordes of Nordic refugees fleeing Scandinavian socialist states hiding? CNN hasn't found the refugee camps anywhere and not one boat load has shown up on our shores. You need to rethink your position. I do not fight fascists because I think I can win. I fight them because they are fascists. Is there something wrong with my glasses? I can't believe my eyes. The O.C. (land of Reagan) went blue??? Holy-moley macaroni!!! No your eyes are working, the O.C. (birthplace of Nixon) had a blue tsunami. Some people are speculating it is because of prop 187. https://www.cato.org/blog/proposition-187-turned-california-blue If they are right, then give it a few years and the Orange one will have turned the USA blue. |

Looking at things like demographics, clamp downs on voter suppression and gerrymandering, I wouldn't be surprised if some or all of the states like, Texas, Florida, Georgia and the Carolina's turn Blue within the next 6 years. |

. Dear Robert [ed]Waite[/ed - fixed typo], Comments like: In a socialist country, the ownership and producing of private goods and dispersing of these private goods is the Socialist mantra. are written by people that assume their definition of the word socialist is the only valid definition. There are others in this nation that state with conviction that the united states is "a republic not a democracy", seemingly not realizing that the two are not necessarily mutually exclusive (or rather only accepting the definition of these terms provided by Madison in Federalist 10) . Like Madison's notion of "pure democracy", "True Socialism" is a fiction, used to frame a straw man argument. As you've no doubt found, there's often little to be gained by engaging with the person making such an argument. I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ... |

.Where are the hordes of Nordic refugees fleeing Scandinavian socialist states hiding?Between about 1850 and 1910 one third of the Swedish population fled to America. Among other people from the Nordic countries of course. The will of survival or perhaps to get a better life is very strong. Just like today when the US get "invaded" from South America. |
