Actually as he is in the UK this is the one he needs. https://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/driverResults.aspx/140353/en-uk (The US version often makes things worse.) :-) This is the latest driver for the 1050ti Download this then double click the downloaded file and as Brent says do a "clean Install" it will be one of the options after the software has unpacked and before it installs. P.S not sure if you really meant driver 337.88 as that would make it well over a year old!!! |

Get the latest driver from NVIDIA +1 Also, do not install the GeForce Experience software, do a custom install and uncheck Experience. It has been known to be problematic. Dear Grant/Bernie The GTX 1050Ti wasn't even made when that system was released, so it's supplied driver won't support any newer hardware- hence the need to download the driver from NVidia. Since internet speeds have become faster than dialup I have never, ever used a driver from the supplied CD/DVD. Once the system is up & running i'll get the most recent (at that time) driver from the manufacturer of the hardware & install it. And once the system is up & stable that's it for driver updates- unless a new driver specifically addresses an issue i'm having. If it isn't broken, don't fix it. Grant Darwin NT |

Yes the version is 337.88 - bought it off eBay a week ago £48. Have DL the driver to thumb drive, put it in the USB on the TU but GPU not registered. Then DL the driver to a spare CD which flashed for a few seconds but then the HDD indicator is not blinking? Rebooted the TU and it seems to be blinking again. Fingers crossed that this works. BTW I do not have a monitor so did not see Clean install option. |

OK there is the problem you need to be able to see the screen to install the GPU driver. it will not install by itself. Just putting in a CD or USB stick will not install the driver. Sorry but there is no other way. Can you not put a monitor keyboard and mouse onto the machine as a temporary measure? If definitely not and you do not have a program like VNC or TeamViewer installed then there is no way I can think of to install the driver. You also say it cost £48 on ebay? What make is it? Hopefully it didn't come from China |

The make of the GPU card is NVIDIA Ganing Card and Made in China |

Dear Bernie That is a boot screen of some sort, have you got a keyboard and mouse connected? If not you will need them. As to the card being make by "Nvidia" and coming from China, it may well be a fake. Nvidia make the base chips but not many actual cards. So you may have an older less powerful model dressed up and pretending to be a 1050ti, which may be why the drivers on the CD are so old. Someone should have warned you to never ever buy anyting from ebay that comes from China. One video I saw on you-tube the guy took one apart and found it was a much older 760. it will no doubt work but will be slower than expected. |

The blinking cursor disappeared when I checked the monitor connection which actually looked fine. This led to opening windows with 12 updates required. From there it looked like I did install the driver BUT there is no update yet on the BOINC manager screen. Have a horrible feeling that I may have to return it... |

Unless you actually clicked on the Nvidia driver install you will not have installed a driver that will work. |

The make of the GPU card is NVIDIA Ganing Card and Made in China GPU's from China normally do not work. They are not actually what they say. They are "fake" models. I know because i buy one in the past (GTX 1060 as posted in e-bay) and has a lot of troubles trying to make them work. When you run GPU-z it said the model is right but the complete newer nvidia driver not install. Only very old driver install on it, not remember the version but is something close to the one we used with the GT200. At the end , since windows installs, i put it on a office computer who not run SETI or any graphics work. |

Dear Juan and everyone My MSI GEFORCE GTX 1050ti arrived and I have installed it. Interestingly, the box had addresses on it, there was an instruction sheet inlike the fake one. I did use the driver I had previously loaded onto a CD and rebooted and heigh ho, I have a GPU card on my machine 8023146. Managed to do this without a monitor as the new card does not have a VGA output socket, but never mind, I have ordered an adapter. Looking at the outputs just now, two WUs have been crunched at about 1600-1700 seconds each or say 27 minutes. The AP one took 16,000 seconds though? Thank you all again for your advice. I have another query about my laptop 8367602 for which I will post a separate thread. George |

Nice the "not fake" GPU works fine. LOL But your times are still "too high" since you are using the stock slow cuda32 app. Now my suggestion is to install the latest Lunatics Apps to produce a lot more work. It's easy and there are a lot of threads in this forums telling about how to do that. Go for it! You will see the big difference in the crunching times. |

Will do Juan but will have to wait for my adapter to arrive so I can use my monitor. BTW you may have seen earlier comments that my TU is "headless" i.e. I only use it for crunching WUs. What hardware please would I need to install to turn it into a normal PC where it would be my main machine and SETI would be running in the background? Thanks for your feedback. |

The only hardware you would need is a monitor, keyboard and mouse. SETI is designed to run as a low priority application in the background. Although it is using 100% of the CPU, normal priority tasks take over when they need the CPU time. So browsing etc. can be done with SETI actively processing. If your system does lag, you can simply check a box to suspend SETI when the computer is in use. BTW, for your stderr from a task: nVidia Driver Version 417.01 Device 1: GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, 4095 MiB, regsPerBlock 65536 computeCap 6.1, multiProcs 6 pciBusID = 2, pciSlotID = 0 This shows that you now have a real 1050Ti :D |

The only hardware you would need is a monitor, keyboard and mouse. LOL. And even after you finish the configuration on the host you could put it to work remotely by using a program like teamviewer or VNC and remove all of them. |

Dear Juan Received the VGA adapter so I can use my monitor. Loaded the Lunatics v0.44 app but first the TU won't connect to BOINC? not connected to client? BUT I then remembered to reboot and things seem OK now. Thanks for your help and let's see what happens to crunch times |

Dear Juan The Latest Lunatics' App is Ver: 0.45 Beta 6 Ver 44 is MUCH older... I recommend obtaining 0.45 Beta 6 from Mike's World here: Mike's World, Downloads: Lunatics 0,45 B6 There's a 32 Bit Ver for Windows, and a 64 Bit Ver for Windows, make sure to grab the right one. :-) TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel...
