Hello,
a question or two.
How do you get the waste heat of the computers and the noise development under control?
My computers are in a room in our basement, which unfortunately has no window.
The other rooms, which have windows, are used otherwise.
If I close the door the room will warm up quickly above 34 degrees Celsius / 93 degrees Farenheith.
In addition, if I leave the door open (Temps then are fine), the computers, are well audible in the floor above through the open staircase.

Any thougts and conclusuons are welcome...

cheers
Matthias

If you can't move the computers to another room, then the only other option is to improve the ventilation in that room.
Large diameter flexible ducting would be the best option if putting a exhaust fan in the upper section of the external wall isn't possible- run the ducting to where the fan is mounted.

I just run the A/C when the outside temp is above 25° C. When the outside temp falls below that I can open all the windows to bring in air. I use large pedestal and floor fans to move the air from one side of the house to the other and pull all the heated air from the computers outside each room and then outside. Have to do something to remove the 4000 Watt space heaters output, LOL. Benefit is that the gas furnace never comes on in the winter. I just live with the fan noise. Ear plugs reduce ambient noise by 33 decibels.

I have three computers running in my main room, no AC. This summer was not so hot and I have little fan noise. There are 4 trees in my garden which shield my home in the afternoon. I have a robot lawn cutter but there is almost no grass in my garden (too dry weather) and I switched it off. Soon the heating will begin (I have a gas furnace) but so far this is Indian summer.

I have My computers in My living room, currently I can potentially run as many as 2 PCs due to electrical problems with 20 electrical outlets needing to be replaced cause the 20 are fire hazards, plus I need to install 4 more circuits, so I run 1 PC currently, I also as soon as I get Liheap in here in California, I will be investing in 2 new custom sized single hung dual pane vinyl windows, 1 kitchen and 1 rear bathroom, then asap a 12,000 BTU a/c unit to go along with or replace the 10,000 BTU a/c unit in the living room, then I could probably run a few more PCs at least once I pay down some debt, I live in a desert that gets real cold in the winter.

I wonder if putting a vent in the top of the door and a floor fan installed in the bottom of the door would move enough heat while keeping the door closed? And be quieter.

You could get a small air conditioning unit for the room your computers are set up. This would run independently of the hvac of your house. Obviously this is a somewhat serious investment and will futher increase your electric bill.

There are also heat pumps on the market that can divert that heat from one room to the next, or to a condensing unit outside (depending on conditions). A little more complex.

Summer - lots of open windows
Winter - no need for any heating, just move the hot air around....

I have a network closet with a sound proof door and a small aircon unit. I keep the noisiest machines in there. During winter, I will distribute the machines around the house for warmth. I have 2 fan profiles setup on two headers in BIOS. I switch to a quieter profile by moving fans to a different MB fan header when they are not in my network closet. In summer, I don't run them from 10am to 5pm since power is very expensive at that time.
