And as pre. (edit: removed, so we can continue testing) |

Zalster's image. https://i.imgur.com/Rk8wQu9.png Deleted- causes scrolling on IE 11, image resizing not enabled, didn't have issue previously. No problem with Edge (no idea where image resizing settings are, or even if there are any). Grant Darwin NT |

[pre] and image bugs reported on Github. Anyone think of anything else we ought to test? (Please report, but then remove, anything which stretches this thread) |

Try Quoting/Previewing messages of interest. Some do not have a scroll bar until your mouse hits a hotlink, or depends where on the screen mouse is when page opens. |

Testing quote of message Testing Quote Testing. Is good. I suspect if you quote a post with an oversized image, that would cause it. Will check for quoting a pre /pre post Grant Darwin NT |

The image displays without causing a scroll bar in my browser (Chrome for Windows, ~1470 px width). The image itself downloads as 1920 x 812 px, so it's been scaled for display. Please post dimensions and display handler for any image problems. |

As in grants message here http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_reply.php?thread=82901&post=1959673#1959673That acts that way in IE11. |

Deleted. as Brent posted, quoting a post with pre /pre in it results in the scrolling as the pre /pre section is retained in the quote. Grant Darwin NT |

While we're thinking, you might like to know that the dummy text in my first post came from https://www.lipsum.com/, which explains the history and purpose of the text - it isn't just dummy words. |

Testing another stretch case - an extremely long url from message 1959547 (in the Politics area - you may not want to go there). https://www.rexulti.com/us/sz/about-schizophrenia/ and it went on and on and on... Yes, the original stretched the thread, but that much was enough to end up in the same place. It would be wise (at least for the time being) to eyeball urls and remove search terms, tracking cookies and anything else that doesn't identify the page quoted before posting urls. |

everything looks fine on my computer here with Firefox. long text strings properly wrap around at the edge of the page. no sideways scrolling. i only noticed the slightly wider width when viewing from my mobile device. iPhone 6S, iOS12 with Safari. it seemed like the space allocated for user information (name, avatar, stats) seemed wider than usual. text still wrapped around fine, but i have to zoom out a bit by pinching the screen to get it all on one page again. Do you have automatic image re-sizing enabled for your browser?I use Firefox here with auto resizing off Grant. Cheers. |

David has made some additional changes within the last hour and invited us to "try it now". I'll join you when I've finished waking up and other morning chores. |

Edit- and fixed in Private messages as well. Oversized image in browser without image resizing enabled still requires scrolling side to side. eg https://uniim1.shutterfly.com/ng/services/mediarender/THISLIFE/010065802422/media/73764489796/large/1520122362220/enhance 2133 * 1600 and https://i.imgur.com/hJHbHUh.png 1917 * 862 *deleted incorrect statement* Edit- just had a play with the browser width. The messages column does resize to the width of the browser window. The larger image does require the window to be wider to get rid of the scroll bar, compared to the smaller large image. Couldn't find a ruler, but found a tape measure- the different sized images do require different amounts of scrolling (just that on a large monitor the difference between 1917 & 2133 isn't that great...) IE 11, auto image resizing disabled. Grant Darwin NT |
