I just read that AMD my release their 600 series cards soon. The 670 and 680 may even release in October and November according to one rumor. Hopefully these will give some competition from Nvidia cards and keep prices in check.

These cards are just a refresh of the current RX570 and RX580 on 12nm process technologies with just slight bump in core clocks. They are competing against the Pascal 1060/1070 families. No competition against current Nvidia RTX family so no price competition in that arena.

Your right, I think most people will wait until AMD gets their 7nm Navi cards out next year to consider them as true competition for RTX cards.
