I have tried several times to install this on the SUPER32 system with no success.
Same problem several tries. Log on loop. I was sure my execution of your instructions was flawless last two attempts.
Must be a driver system comparability issue? Dunno.
Cant hurt to try the 390 driver. ?? This is an old dual Xeon server board from ASRock.
If 390 fails the same way, I'll try the app anyhow.
If it runs without errors, I'll let it run for a bit to see if Linux crunches SOG units faster than windows.

You still don't have enough RAM to even run 12 GPUs. The thing will probably Crash again if you don't lower the number of GPUs, Memory: 7.72 GB Each task takes close to 700MB, you simply don't have enough RAM.
Also, Set the Checkpoint higher

Also, you told me that BOINC doesnt like to be shutdown in this config.
Whats the best way to do it?
Accept no more tasks and let it run out first before suspending?

I got the miner up and running again with 12 1060 GPU's.

Now, TBar, you put put a snipit about a fix for some limitation on the number of cards.

can you tell me more about that?

Your instructions are based on a new system install so I now have a newly installed system.
Proceeding from scratch.

Actually it's very simple if you just follow instructions.
You also must install the nVidia driver again if you reinstall the System.
I have no idea how you went from a working Manager to one that won't work.

But I didnt reinstall the system.

I guess I had better get started on that. It doesnt make any sense to me.
If I only sent the BOINC folder to the trash, how did that trash the dependencies?

To Install the Dependencies, In the terminal;
To install 7zip run, sudo apt-get install p7zip
To install libwebkitgtk run, sudo apt-get install libwebkitgtk-1.0-0
To install libcurl3 run, sudo apt-get install libcurl3
Any other items installed via the Terminal must be reinstalled after installing a new system.

To 'install', simply expand the download to your Home folder, make sure Dependencies are installed, open the BOINC folder, and double click boincmgr.

Seems to me that just unzipping boinc.7z to the home folder doesnt "run"anything.
Running the manager application within that folder results in nothing even though the execute bit is set.

I'm lost.

I must be missing something.
Dont you have to "Install" an application into Linux?

Did I miss a step like sudo apt-get install boinc-client boinc-manger

Note I did not reinstall Linux. Just tried doing away with the BOINC folder in home and extracting another copy...

There are two possible reasons an App won't run,
1) The Execute bit is not set
2) The Dependencies are not installed

The Dependencies are installed into the System Folder, each time you install a new System you must install the Dependencies again.
Did you install the Dependencies as per instructions?

TBar, on the miner rig, the BOINC MGR wont run at all. The execute bit is set right but it does nothing.
Any idea how to fix this or full reinstall?

Right now I have a minimum sustained 50 gigaFLOPS! Half a petaFLOP!
Cant wait to do some EM sims with this rig and see if I get similar performance.

1000 giga => 1 peta 50GF = 1/20 TF :)

I went for a complete reinstall before bed. At work today.
The miner started up this morning but BOINC crashed and burned! I sent it to the trash and un-zipped a new copy and tried to run the manager but it would not start even after a restart...

What happens when you reinstall the driver?
What you are describing is the Login Loop, it happens when the driver isn't installed correctly,
Usually from not running both commands to completely remove the Repository driver.

It will let me go to the console but no idea what to do here to try and fix it.
