CUDA driver version is insufficient for CUDA runtime version. Told Ya Don't run it if you don't have at least 390... I suggest you stop it until you install 396. So, 396 is in your Home folder with the Execute bit Set. Close Any Open Apps. Hold down the Keys Ctrl, ALT, F1 to enter the console mode. Log In Type, sudo service lightdm stop Enter Password, once it's stopped, Enter, sudo apt-get remove --purge nvidia* YES, include the asterisk. Then, sudo apt-get autoremove That should remove the repository driver. Enter, dir That will list the contents of Home, you should see the 396 driver there. Enter, sudo ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-396.54.run Respond to the Screen prompts, The install script will Always fail if you don't provide one, it means nothing, continue installing. You probably don't even have 32-bit compat, keep going. You Want To Register the Module, chose Yes. Since you don't have a custom xorg.conf, let it build one for you. After it'd done, sudo reboot You might have to find nVidia Settings again, see what says for a driver version. |

At the Top of the Event Log, where it Lists the GPUs, it will Say which CUDA version the Driver is. I've never tried 384, 390 & 410 gives a driver crash on occasion, the 396 driver works best on my machine. If 384 works, try that for now. Download 396 but, it's a little more complicated to install. See if 384 works for you, I've never tried it. |

What does BOINC say? In the Event log it will say if it's a CUDA 9.1 driver. |

Well, I hope 384 is a CUDA 9.1 driver, else it will be throwing Errors.... Advanced View is in the Same place as on Windows. Run the Mouse to the Top of the Screen and the Menus will Appear. |

No chipset drivers for Linux. You will need to download the Driver from NV, use this one it seems to work best for me, https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/137211/en-us After downloading it, move it to the Home folder, right click on it, select Properties/Permissions, then check the box that says, Execute, allow executing file as program. BTW, DO NOT Unpack the All In One Package until it is on the machine, it MUST stay zipped until it is on the machine or ALL the Execute bits will be reset. It's best to download it in the machine that will be using it. |
