The humidity has been awful all summer here. I don't like it.

Oddly, we haven't had much of a humidity issue here in central Texas this year. Must be because I shelled out for a dehumidifier! The only high humidity we've had, really, is just after it has rained, and that's unbearable. Steams up my windows.

It's been quite warm (for once) here in the UK.

I have a computer for SETI running in the main room and another room is my bedroom (always on PCs).. Both rooms tend to be 2 or 3 deg C above the rest.

My coldest room is the bathroom.

If I could I would put my machines in the bathroom and VNC into them.. (.. but moisture..)

"seasonal cleaning." for me at the moment is vacuuming up the spiders (gently in a low power car type vac and releasing them later) that are coming in looking for a dry place after the odd shower.

We had few spiders this summer as it was uber hot but now they flourish.

For those of you without air conditioning, you might try this. I have a Mac Mini, which is about the size of one of the early, portable CD players. It's quite small. I have a small USB fan that I've plugged into the computer so that it sits right there, pointed at the computer. I'm convinced it keeps the thing cooler.

I also have a small notebook computer (Windows) that does nothing but run BOINC software. I have it sitting on a laptop fan that is also USB powered. Something like the image below. I'm sure it also helps keeping the notebook cool.

Ah, something happening in my garage (aka "that store outside") - I can see most of the floor and walls - the only three things of substance left in there are a filing cabinet (too fragile to move), tumble drier (I need to have it handy given we are heading into autumn here) and the work bench (at over half a tonne you can guess how enthusiastic I am about moving it). Everything else has either been slung or put into storage by filling a 20foot shipping container.
Now for the new roof, and the rain - guess what, the builder was due on site today and it's precipitating prodigiously here -:(

Now that I know that we're back, I'll go back into the house and clean some more windows.

Cheers.

I need to re-paint my front porch. It's been five years since a fresh coat of paint, and it really needs it. I'll have to clean it first, of course. I'm putting it off until the weather breaks and gets cooler.

Well I got 2/3rds of my internal windows done today, but the rest will have to wait until I move the furniture about again, and then there's still the outside still to do yet (but I'll wait until the weather warms up a bit more before I do them).

I've got a few pieces of timber trim that I need to replace on the house first Gordon before I do a patch up on the paint job (which hasn't done to bad at handling the 12yrs since I last did it).

Cheers.

My porch is concrete, so the paint jobs don't last as long. We started painting it many moons ago to cover up a crack in one of the steps. The crack got worse, and and we patched it, but once you paint cement, you're pretty much locked into painting it for life, lol.

Put castors under them like I did. ;-)

I'm now down to the kitchen, laundry and sunroom left to do in the house.

Cheers.

As soon as the shelf liners get here, I'll be moving the contents of My desk and My PC to My new Nexel wire steel shelving,
it's 72"Wx24"Dx78"H and yes that includes the 4" wheels.
I can put 4 PCs on this, 2 full towers on the middle shelf and 2 Cooler Master HAF XB cases above that,
and I can even vacuum under it too, the bottom shelf is up about 2" higher than I'd like, but that can't be helped.

Normally these come with 4 shelves, but there is room for 5, the liners are not included, nor are the wheels.
The old one is going to be box storage, storage around here is really lacking, so shelving is a must.
I know, it's big, for the moment so am I and I can't break it, it's solid chrome plated steel.
