He had more honor than most other republicans. I hope is seat is taken by someone who is, at least, his equal in that respect. I have watched his daughter, Megan McCain, on The View and I think she would be a good replacement for her dad in the Senate. I doubt she's interested, but I hope she'll give it some thought. May John McCain rest in peace. He will be missed. ~Sue~ ![]() |

FYI: "The former Navy pilot, Vietnam prisoner of war, and Republican presidential nominee spent 30 years as a senator. Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey, a Republican, is legally required to fill vacancies in Arizona’s US Senate delegation and will therefore appoint McCain’s replacement. Whoever Ducey chooses will stay in office until 2020." From this article: https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2018/8/25/17781526/john-mccain-replacement-arizona-governor-doug-ducey ~Sue~ ![]() |

John McCain spent five years in prison Hoa Lo, more known as "Hanoi Hilton". Tran Trong Duyet was one of the prisoner wardens in the prison and he remembers John McCain well. They actually became friends. He often invited him to his quarter for some coffe when he was off duty and McCain tought him english. They also discussed about women:) https://www.svt.se/nyheter/utrikes/mccains-fangvaktare-i-vietnam https://www.afp.com/en/news/206/john-mccains-hanoi-hilton-jailor-recalls-stubborn-pow-doc-18k8nh2 |

I may have disagreed with him on (some) political things, but I didn't dislike the person. I actually got to meet him and shake hands and speak with him the last time he ran for President (against Obama) when he held a rally here at the County Courthouse in Prescott and he seemed like a very nice, outgoing person. Where he lived (Cornville, AZ) is not very far from where I live (Prescott, about a mile or so south of the County Courthouse) - roughly 30 miles or so. |
