It is an optimized version from Raistmer, so not from Berkely. Its using the stock codebase but compiled with a different compiler and optimized flags. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

Where did one find that? Looked in all the usual places. Must have been in a forum thread. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

Wow, I don't know how I missed that in the Applications list. I thought that 8.05(alt) was the highest they went to on Main Stock. I knew 8.08(alt) was over at Beta, but didn't think it had been placed on Main. Mystery solved. Beta has an 8.08(alt) too now - it's 64-bit only, so is out of place in the list - and Eric doesn't usually change version numbers when promoting an app from Beta to the big time. He once said (but it might have been in a private developer conversation) that whenever possible the main and beta app downloads are separate soft links to the same physical binary file, to minimise the risk of mistakes during deployment. |

Actually the 8.08(alt) app should be included in a new Lunatics installer IMHO at least as there are those out there that could greatly benefit from it. ;-) Cheers. |

Like i said the alt versions are from stock codebase and are all slower than those in the installer. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |
