Hi everyone, I just started running seti@home recently on my desktop PC , I'm running it 24/7, so I decided to update my CPU cooler from the stock Intel cooler to a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. My CPU is an i5-4590. The Result: Stock Intel cooler temps: Idle 55°C Load 75°C Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO temps: Idle 37°C Load 57°C Not bad for spending $20 ($30 minus a $10 rebate)! If anyone is running the stock Intel cooler and would like a good, low-cost aftermarket cooler, I would highly recommend this one. It is very large, so make sure there is enough room in your case. |

Hi everyone, The Hyper 212 and its variants is an oldie but goodie. Well up on the bang for the buck roster. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

I have the Hyper212 EVO on three machines! EXCELLENT cooler!!! :-) ------------------------------------------------------ New Prometheus, i7 7700K system. Exeter, AMD A6-6400K system. Farragut, i7 7700 system. ------------------------------------------------------ My first Hyper212 EVO was on the AMD A6 due to the fact that on the stock AMD Cooler that while crunching the system was hitting in the HIGH 80s C!!! MUCH too hot! The Hyper212 brought the temps down to the low 70s C. AND, I wasn't even crunching on CPU!!! I was ONLY feeding the EVGA GTX-760 card! Exeter has just been retired. The second system to get a Hyper212 was Old Prometheus/Hackintosh-Andromeda a Quad Core Extreme QX9650 at 3GHz. With the Hyper212 temps stayed at 35C while feeding two EVGA GTX-750TI SC cards. This system died a couple weeks ago and was resurrected into New Prometheus - the i7 7700K system. New Prometheus hovers in the mid 70s C with the Hyper212. New Prometheus crunches CPU and feeds two EVGA GTX-1050 cards. Farragut, (dad's Desktop system), the i7 7700 only feeds the integrated HD-630 GPU. I haven't monitored the temps on this one. If interested, I can run HW Monitor on it and find out. TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |

yup it's a great cooler. definitely the best bang for your buck i even have 2 of them on my dual 8-core Xeon E5-2690 system, though it's just barely enough for them (80C at full load on the "hot" chip). I only used them cause i already had them lol. Seti@Home classic workunits: 29,492 CPU time: 134,419 hours |

I have a "red hot" machine that has been running that way for over a year but I would really like it cooler. Thank you for the pointer. Tom A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association). |
