Since this forum is filled with computer nerds like me,j/k, here is a question for you, I just recent acquired a free Dell Vostro 200 (Core Duo E2160 1.8GHz, 4GB RAM, 80GB HDD, the cd rom is broken so I will have to load an Operating system via usb, I looked into Ubuntu which is a whopping 25gb, what operating system that is free is recommended and easy to load, and is not huge.

I think Linux based ubuntu is a good fit but what version?

I`m using Linux Mint 18.3
Installed from an USB stick.
Download ISO and use UniversalUSBInstaller.

All the Linux distributions are around the same size. Except I would say typical is closer to 18GB. Ubuntu 18.04 has a Minimal installation choice now that doesn't load all the fluff, games, apps and such. Just the bare minimum to load the kernel and download.

My OpenSuSE Leap 42.3 has an ISO file of 4.3 GB. I loaded it also on a USB stick.

I believe Arch is supposed to be pretty minimal.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/installation_guide

A basic installation with all packages from the base group should take less than 800 MB of disk space.

I have Lubuntu loaded onto an 8 Gb flash drive. I would swear its smaller than "25gb". :)

I didn't run my "android" on an X86 very long so I don't really have any experience. But I am running android Seti on my cellphone.
So here is my best guess.

So if you load android seti, I strongly suspect you will not have access to any gpu processing. If that is true you would be running two tasks because you have two cores. No matter what your video card is, it won't be used.

And you have to use the mouse to run the "touch screen" (which I don't have) to do all the drag/clicking.

HTH,

Are you only wanting to run work units on the CPU?

According to the event log, it does not see any Graphic cards on your system.

Fri 17 Aug 2018 12:20:51 AM EDT | | No usable GPUs found

Do you have any and if so did you load the graphic driver and also the compute components?

Edit..

There is also this

Fri 17 Aug 2018 12:24:55 AM EDT | SETI@home | File referenced in app_info.xml does not exist: setiathome_v8
Fri 17 Aug 2018 12:24:55 AM EDT | SETI@home | [error] State file error: missing application file setiathome_v8

Looks like application is missing from the folder

Fri 17 Aug 2018 12:20:51 AM EDT | | suspend work if non-BOINC CPU load exceeds 25%

If you really feel the need to suspend BOINC work when the system is doing other things, then i'd set that to 85%

Ok, you have a dual core cpu but have limited usage to only 1 CPU. So if you only want to run CPU work units and not GPU then don't worry about the graphic drivers or compute components.

Since you are wanting to only run the CPU work unit, then we need to figure out why the application did not download. I'm guessing you got the files from where? Cruncher's Anonymous?

ok then, well it can't find the application because the server at seti hasn't sent it yet to you.

Your computers are hidden so we can't see what you have or look at any results. So it's going to be hard to help you without seeing them.

Most people running linux are installing the applications which they have downloaded from other sites. So if you are planning with going with standard applications then you will have to wait for the server to send those, short of downloading them yourself.

I don't know why you got get a limit, usually we see that if you have invalid results. But again, with your computers hidden and their results. We are guessing.
