and we are back.

looks like we haven't needed the panic thread all week. That sure was a long outrage though.

. . Hi Unixchick,

. . 9 hours is longer than the recent norm but not as bad as the 12 to 14 hour outages we were suiffering through before the backup system upgrade.

I'm not sure what time we went down for the outage and came back but we were down for 9 hours we would gone down at 4 & have come back at about 1300 NZST

I see that RTS is half of it's usual and the splitters are playing lazy again.
Sent the usual messages, but it's only about 6AM in Berkeley.

Meowsigh.

Cool Mark, I was just going to fire an email off myself here.
We should have about 3 hours for them to clear things up before we run out of tasks.

We have 90K left in the RTS and some APs being split and some resends. So we have about an hour until empty. It is after 8am in California, so hopefully they can get it going again with a minimum of pain. So glad the RTS is so large and can keep things going for 6ish hours when the splitters go on vacation.

Only 15k left now.

A larger RTS buffer would help in these situations

blc22_2bit_guppi_58340_70913_HIP45963_0123 16.44 GB has not started to be processed yet. Considering it is so small it must be the end of a taping session. I know we have had smaller tapes before but I have not seen a GBT tape this small

I'm not having a problem. As they say on "IT Crowd" - have you tried turning it off and on again ?? sorry if this is a flip answer, I truly hope you figure it out. Maybe more diagnostic messages would be helpful ??

. . Have you accidentally set your work request size to something ludicrously small? Try setting your work request to 10 days with additional work to 10 days as well. If that doesn't prompt some downloads then you seriously have a problem.

Or are you running additional projects that have a large debt to be paid and that is what is blocking getting additional Seti work. If I let Einstein grab too much work, the immediate effect on my hosts is to throttle Seti work down to a single task every 15 requests for work. The consequence of that is my Seti caches rapidly emptying and not being refilled. Abort the abundance of Einstein work and Seti immediately refills the entire cache limit.

additionnal work is not a setting for increasing WU cache, but an option to say, " ask server every " additionnal time " you set ^^

for example, if you set 0.01 to " additionnal work " it means, ask server every 15mn :D
