Hello! I am aware that this topic has been brought up multiple times, but I want to rehash the question(I'm so sorry about this). Is there absolutely no way to limit GPU usage on a task? I understand that the GPU can only be at 100% utilisation or 0% utilisation, but is it possible to toggle it such that the task is active for 5 seconds, suspended for 5 seconds and resumed for another 5 seconds? Or is there a way to script such actions for boinc that I am unaware of ;-; I really want to contribute to SETI@home with my GPU, but I also want to keep the fan speeds down so I'm not too loud is all

The issue here is not slowing the gpu down but slowing down the gpu fan speed?

I would see if there is an overclocking utility for your brand of gpu. Most of the overclocking utilities I have seen also can manually control the gpu fan speed.

If you know how to put parameters in the mb*SOG.txt command line file, I can suggest trying this one: -low_perf
This file is in the hidden "ProgramData" directory on your C drive. You have to go to "view" and enable to see the directory.

You probably want to use: -sbs 192 -spike_fft_thresh 2048 -tune 1 64 1 4 -low_perf

There are no equivalent parameters for the CUDA named gpu tasks. But probably in less then a week they will disappear because the SOG gpu tasks run more efficiently (have a higher GFlops# on website) for your sized gpu card.

Once the SOG tasks start processing and if you are running without the "-low_perf" your processing should stablize (sp) near 12 minutes per task.
