"At this time, only three countries—Burma, Liberia, and the US—have not adopted the International System of Units (SI, or metric system) as their official system of weights and measures."
Why haven't these countries adopted the SI system?
So very strange because it so very much simpler to use kilometers instead of miles and Celsius instead of Fahrenheit. All scientific literature does it and the need for conversion just make it more complicated.

Well. It reminds me of IT "standards" :) They are definitely not international.

All airlines use the Imperial system of units. If they changed to SI a number of accidents may happen, as when the Italian Air Force, after the September 8 1943 armistice, was given Allied planes with their Imperial units. The Italian pilots had been trained in the metric system. I wonder how Imperial and SI can coexist in the ISS, with Roscosmos using SI and NASA the Imperial system.

The story of the "Gimli Glider" and the refueling problem in 1983.
At the time of the incident, Canada's aviation sector was in the process of converting to the metric system. As part of this process, the new 767s being acquired by Air Canada were the first to be calibrated for metric units (litres and kilograms) instead of Imperial units (gallons and pounds).
What could possible go wrong...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gimli_Glider#Refueling
The story ends well though:)

Dat's right. But now you blokes cant order a "Proper Pint" . What do you say to the Publican "give me a 570 Ml. of bitters or Guiness??

You should also change your currency's name to the kilogram or maybe the Kilogram divided by 2.2.
Next you can get to work on the Metric second. Things would be much nicer if there were 100 seconds in a Minute and 100 minutes in an hour. Don't you think?
The Babylonians will be miffed but their civilization has gone to hell anyway.

The Commies have convinced you to adopt their system to ruin your culture and allow your ammo to fit into their rifles and artillery pieces.

Another good rant by Daddio the arbiter of all that is right and silly in the world--LOL !!

No, we still order pints, and get proper pints, not 500ml, or 16fl oz :-)

Edit to add:
By a quirk of the law if one orders a "half litre" or "500ml" of ale, beer or larger that is delivered from a tap or pump rather than a bottle or can IN A PUB one may be served a pint as it is of greater volume than the ordered measure.

Since the Oktoberfest in Munich is near, I believe the unit more popular is one Stiffel, which I believe is one liter. Maybe some German speaking user can correct me.

Hehe: No. You mean Stiefel. It means "boot" (stövel in Swedish) and in Bavaria (Bayern) they sometimes serve beer in special glasses. And they come in many sizes. Its capacity can vary from half a liter to five liters, but the most common version is two liters.
Prost :-)

A hundred stars have disappeared—and researchers aren’t ruling out aliens

The night sky is changing, and we can’t figure out why.

... In addition to continuing to study the hundred or so locations that appear to be missing a light source, the VASCO astronomers next plan on implementing a citizen science project where anybody interested can help them search through the rest of the 150,000 candidates.

So is it just hype or speculation here, or could it be just a claim instead, for not any idea you could make it either?

Blame only the Scientific method here, for not any correctness we could make it at times, for only a similar validity.

AstroQuest is an online citizen science project where participants inspect and edit images that will help Australian astronomers understand how galaxies grow and evolve. https://astroquest.net.au/about/ ..
