Hey all - I'm using BOINC for the first time, I created an account here today, downloaded BOINC and I'm trying to add SETI@Home through the add project button.

I select SETI@Home from the list, click through, add my credentials and then get "Login Failed".

I've tried turning off my local firewall and it didn't help.

I've tried selecting new user in case you need a different account to this one, but it states my email is already used so that's obvs not it.

Now I'm sad because it won't work... :(

Any help will be appreciated.

As a test, I removed Seti@Home from my BOINC 7.10.2 and re-added it via Tools->Add Project->Seti@Home (with link http://setiathome.berkeley.edu)->Yes, existing user (with credentials and password)->OK and that worked without a flaw.

Meaning that it's something in your login attempt that doesn't work, or perhaps you're behind a proxy or VPN that doesn't work, or you didn't allow BOINC (boinc.exe) to communicate with the internet (TCP ports 80 and 443) in your firewall.

Thanks Ageless.

I just tried it again and it didn't work.

So I changed my password to something more simple and it works.
So this I think confirms that there is a password encapsulation issue where whitespace characters will break the communication of your credentials during this process.

I should try and log a bug at the BOINC website I suppose?

Cheers.

After seeing David's comment in your Issue, I changed my password here to include spaces, removed the project from BOINC and added it again. Works without a flaw.

Same problem here. Changing password doesn't work. I think maybe there's a delay between registering on the site and being able to log in on the program?

I'm having the same issue, tried many variations of my password (both with spaces and without).
I can, obviously, log into the website with no issue. I've uninstalled and resinstalled BOINC at least twice, with the same result.
So, please add me to the list... :-)

And now, for some reason, I can't log into the website (except through the password reset link).
Which is how I'm posting now. If I log out and try to log back in, it tells me that my password is incorrect.

Any help?

Message 1943613 - Posted: 9 Jul 2018, 22:39:55 UTC - in response to Message 1943566.

Greetings, I'm in exactly the same shoes. Tried to add the set@home project, it always requested to check my e-mail and password. After changin the password still no success adding the project. But logging out from the website, I could not log in back with the password I just gave like 2 minutes ago.

Am I supposed to get an e-mail notification after the registartion? Because the only e-mail I got is from the 'forgot password' action.

Cheers

As there are several posts in different threads I will just post here that the site admin has been informed of this problem.

More info will be posted as soon as there as any.

The password problems should now be fixed. It's possible you have to set a new password one last time, but then it'll work.

Please post if it still doesn't and what possible error you get then.
